( one could argue that this is part of the "alien" category but I assume most readers would think that "alien" implies extraterrestrial, and I am quite sure that an extraterrestrial origin is much less likely than a secret terrestrial origin. Also one could argue that any group capable to build craft like those has to have some kind of government so "secret government craft" should apply - but I assume that most readers would think that "government" only refers to known and publicly recognized governments, defined as the members of UN or similar. )

Of course there are possible border cases - is really every single branch of CIA etc. truely under governmental control ???

my take is a juxtapose between Alien and Government craft. It may sound a little too X-files for some, but for me it stacks up.
Alien for me is not just little green men, but some other power/entity/intelligence that doesn't just fit into our "alien" pigeon hole. This is some sort of "game/experiment" which demonstrates just how small,insecure,paranoid WE are as a human race.

If these are secret goverment aircraft, they're not being too secret about them. It doesn't make sense for the government to fly experimental/secret aircraft over major population centers, they do the exact opposite, targeting rural areas such as the deserts of the southwest or Canada for such missions. For some reason whoever is piloting these crafts wants to be seen, making sure to fly at low altitude at low speed over places where it will be undeniably noticed. This doesn't seem very secret to me. Taking that into note, the possibility of aliens acclimatizing us as a species to their presence comes to mind, but who knows? oh, and by the way, they also fly over rural areas at high altitude, at least the time I saw one with a group of friends in Maine.

It's no coincidence that last year, Iran was experiencing numerous UFO sightings (several reports were linked to here on TDG), when just last month the CIA admitted to extensive spying on Iranian nuclear and military installations.

In Northern India, there have also been numerous UFO sightings, particularly triangular light patterns. India, Pakistan and China all share borders in the Himalayas, where the UFO sightings have been reported, and all three countries are nuclear powers.

I believe alien craft are visiting our planet, but many reports can be linked to secret military spycraft. The Iran example I descrived above is a classic example.

Of course, America could be covering for the aliens who are spying on Iran! ;-)

The flying triangle phenomenon, I believe, is the manifestation of Richard Branson's latest venture - Virgin TimeTrip.

Yes, those pesky black triangles are nothing more than time travelling tourist ships, sent back in time (for the very reasonable sum of around £100,000 - probably) allowing people from the future to travel back in time...

I've had a special place in my heart for the triangle shape of UFO. Even used it in one of my logos (not seen yet--look to the airwaves!)

My questions to everyone are: Why does there have to be only one shape of ET craft? Is there only one 'race' living on this planet?

My first guess is that they are commercial arliners, which frequently line up at regular distances approaching busy airports. Works for ordinary military planes as well. I know, it's a real pedestrian explanation :)

Some observations could be due do diffraction and scattering effects, that could multiply light sources. This website (no, it's not mine) has instructions to make toy, homemade holograms. It seems quite possible that natural sources could produce interesting patterns. Heat patterns induced by large, regular stuctures (buildings, ploughing patterns, etc), who knows. Not that I have made the calculations, but someone should get a research grant and do it.

Having written this, I can come up with a scenario involving the military: they have figured out how to produce this multiple-image effect, and are testing it here. So they can use it in some invasion, and look like having air superiority with just 3 aircraft. Or they should be doing this.

i always suspect there are other intelligent life forms living under our oceans, possibly visitors from another world who prefer us not to notice them - after all, we know next to nothing about what goes on 'down there'

I have always believed that the UFO sightings were at times government craft and other times ET craft. With "Secret Government Craft" leading the pack, it seems I am in the minority.

The idea that UFOs, especially of the "Flying Triangle" sort, are secret government aircraft, is an idea much floated about, and so could have been planted in the general psyche of the public as part of a government disinformation project.

Seem's it's working.

My personal belief is that MOST of the unidentified flying objects that are witnessed and photographed are, in fact, alien -- but not from OUT THERE. I believe that they are emerging from BELOW the Earth's crust, and have the movies to prove it. I document my findings in "Incident at North Berwick: The Skies Are Buzzing over Bonnie Scotland," published in Atlantis Rising #49 (soon to be replaced on the newsstands by #50).

If the UFOs do emerge from below, rather than from above, the pilots of the craft may indeed be more "terrestrial" than we are. While we have been walking about for many millenia on the SURFACE of the earth, they have been held in its bosom.

Ever notice how almost in every nothern hemisphere ancient advanced civilizations regard whom we call ORION as a significant constalation? Maybe due to the fact that the center star in orion's belt is actually a nebula called Crab??? Due to the evidence I hypothesize that the advanced ancient civilizations that we know today actually decended from whom we would have called GOD and whom ever he traveled with, who came from that distant galaxy, and populated this world. The constellations in the sky just happen to be a cosmological clock used by the settelers. Since NONE of that record exists today i would even suggest that this "GOD" kept the advanced knowledge from his children as to prevenet them from doing whatever it was that he had done. thus ignorance is bliss.

These things are very common just south of Bangor, Maine, in Dedham. It's a very wooded area with few people. They move aprox 35mph (never seen them move faster), and have red and white blinking lights on the tips, and have a smooth underside. No sounds are made and they are very low to the ground (60-120ft in the air, under radar, just above tree line sometimes). They are fairly big, being about 60-80ft long. interesting note, they stop and hover in place to turn by spinning on their axis. There is an air force base in bangor. I've seen them personally on several occasions along with many others I know.
