“If the Sun and Moon should ever doubt… they’d immediately go out.”

Quote of the Day:

“The eye altering, alters all.

Your certainly right the 2012 meme is certainly proving to be quite a scare. Could it be possible that a man made fulfilment of this prophecy be generated by the current climate ? Absolutely. Particularly if you believe in what new science advocates that we create our own reality. We are in a pickle. Can and will our governments come to our rescue ? Not a chance ! We have only one hope in preventing our planets total annihilation. Our only hope of stopping this catastrophe is by getting into a great deal of personal financial debt. For as long as we owe money to our lending institutions there is no way that they will allow this to happen. They are our only hope.

  1. Bunkonscious BrainsCans
(Just to keep with a catchy theme…)

New Scientist has become too new for me. They have entirely new science. They’ve got people taking pictures of consciousness. And here I still thought that consciousness was a subjective state impossible to prove existed in others. Besides the unwarranted conclusion regarding consciousness, the article is sloppy with conscious, unconscious, and subconscious, doesn’t use the preferred non-conscious, barely mentions that they really mean conscious awareness, and fails to consider that all their results are comingled with pre-conscious processing, all of which cannot possibly be imaged by something as slow as the multisecond scans of fMRI. And I beat them up real good for this and more. But I already did it on New Scientist (and had to deletd half my response to get it to fit) so you can look there, or just imagine my hissy fit.

  2. Yet Another One True Best Doomsday
I was present at the REAL end of the world, or the one truly worth attending. July 5, 1998 at 7 AM local, the saucers from Planet X arrived to remove the (us)faithful (non)followers of J.R. “Bob” Dobbs and the (anti)Church Of The SubGenius. When the world ended, nothing happened, and this is as it should be with any decent doomsday UFO cult. To make our sumpremecy permanent, we undertook to see that “Bob” was permanently enshrined as the sort of messiah to stand out in a crowd of other messiahs of equal or lesser value. When Time Magazine had their Man Of The Century issue, one of the subcategories was “Fraud Of The Century”. Perfect. When “Bob” won, the Time people thought it cute to mention that the fraud of the century was fitting because unlike more mundane frauds (Uri Geller was up there as I recall) “Bob” never existed. I suppose some time later the people at Time may have become aware that an even more fitting characterization of fraudulency was to be had at their expense. The voting was conducted via the internet. At the time very few people expected massive multiple voting, much less of the automated type where bots voted for “Bob” thousands of times per hour. Very few, that is, except the faithful SubGenii for whom fraud isn’t just a religion, it’s a annual group campout, weekly radio show, sporadic evanlgelical nightclub acts around the world and a bit of phone company yellow pages ad clip art that appears here and there as the original memetic guerilla performance art in a single image.

  3. Protection Money
Found this amusing quote on an odd-ball web site:

“There is an old saying. If you owe the bank a little, they own you. If you owe the bank a lot, you own the bank. Saddam Hussein owed France, Germany and Russia an awful lot of money. So much so that he ‘owned them.’ Saddam was right. France, Germany and Russia did everything they could to stop the overthrow of Saddam.”

Unfortunately it’s hard for private folks to borrow enough to own anybody or anything, although that hasn’t stopped most of America from trying! For many, the end of the world might actually be preferable to the end of increased credit limits. Come on 2012, bring on the big bail-out from the sky!
