I have been back from the hospital a few days now, and this morning had a dream that left me a little disturbed, and wonder what you folks thought of it. Its starts with me walking down a side walk in a strange city (not just unknown to me, but new in style, for most of my life these cityscapes have been along the coast with the buildings of wood or adobe) here I was surrounded by stone and brick buildings and felt so very inland. As I walked along I was greeted by several large dogs. The first a black one you was mildly happy to see me, the second a golden on you met me like an old friend, and the third a gray one who took my hand in his mouth and lead me up a flight of stone stairs to a courtyard between two stone churches both had there doors open with blackness beyond. In the courtyard was an old woman who turned to me and said "he must really like you" the dog released my hand and I walked down the stairs to the side walk. As I walked along a young child came up along side of me and slipped her hand in mine as we walked, now I have no children but I felt as if I was her father. Then I woke up with an almost haunted feeling, the image of the city its sounds the whole thing so clear along with sensations and emotions that went with the dream were saying something but what?

perhaps
Perhaps these aspects have something to do with it:
- Many people feel a special caring relationship with children, even though they have none of their own. This relationship is not one-way, just the adult taking care of the child. Children remind us of innocence and of learning. Children can ask us questions we had when we were kids ourselves, and which we forgot. So we re-live some of the discovery of the big world.
- Many people feel a similarity between friendly dogs and children. Dogs depend on us, and they appear to learn from us.
- Many people look for some kind of rewarding responsibility. To take care of someone, something, and to make a better future.

learn to use them for power. Hope you are alright after
hospital..
here's what i think
I think what it means is that you're about to make a choice or decission between two paths to take (the churches) with an outcome that is not quite clear yet (that's why the dog is grey instead of black and white). But in the end the decission will affect some big project or idea that you've been working on and is very important to you (your daughter).
Possibly a rubbish explanation, but it's the best I could do. Cheers :-)

It's not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me...
It's all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

This has all been food for thought
All of comments like the dream have caused me to think a bit more. Your comment about decisions is insightful I have had to chose between some unpleasant things to try to complete a project, it would seem I have made a decision and I fear I may not come out the otherside.
It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time
Your recent infirmity
Your recent infirmity requiring a hospital stay reminded you of your mortality. 'Inland' relates to the deeper earth of the past and death. The stone buildings to their firmness of unchangeability. Realizing our mortality reminds us of death. Death relates to our past, (which has already died) and the past relates to our family traditions and ancestral heritage. These three things were 'dogging' you, and they recognize you, even if you have forgotten them. This was a reminder to reacquaint you, because you know you too will one day go 'inland' whence your past, has already passed to. But for now you continue on, with the young child who represents the still unfolding and developing future, as well as your still growing and maturing psyche, which belongs to and arises from you, and is not ready to pass away yet. She takes you by the hand, just as the friendly dog did earlier. You are comfortable with your background, (although in need of reacquaninting) as you also are with your current continuation of life.
