"Band of Holes" near Pisco Valley, Peru
Posted by tehotu at 06:41, 22 Sep 2006Thousands of man-sized holes are carved into the barren rock near Pisco Valley, Peru on a plain called Cajamarquilla. These strange holes, stretching for a mile over uneven mountain terrain, were here for so long that the local people have no idea who made them, or why. Funny thing is no one really saw the big picture until the area was seen from the air.
I was skeptical until I found it on satellite photos on Google Earth:

the holes have been dicussed here befor, a few years back. They are very wierd. I think one theory was that they are burial holes. But I don't believe that.

I had problem locating any good photos of these holes - that's why I decided to post this message. The site mentioned has Google Earth satellite photos and the coordinates of that region - so anyone can view it. Also the previous articles had incorrect data regarding the length of the "band" and the number of holes (it is nearly 7000).

the site mentioned also has the wrong coordinates. The place they give is in the middle of the south atlantic, not anywhere near Peru.
Why don't they give the correct coordinates ?

Thanks for the feedback.
Here are the coordinates for Google: 13 42'57.67"S, 75 52'31.50"W
I think it does not accept deg symbol.
I let the W-M webmaster know about this problem - and it is already corrected.

If you look at the northern part of this feature, say at
13 42' 17.24" S, 75 52'29.77" W
you see that this is not a single connected band of these circles.
There are gaps in the band further south, for example at
13 42' 26.52" S, 75 52'33.34" W
And the band narrows and widens along its path.
But there does seem to be a maximum width.
Very peculiar stuff

If you look at the most northern part of the band, you will notice that it ends within unnaturally darkened area (it almost looks like a remnants of an explosion)...
Also if you go east from the band, there are few areas with very unnatural looking, rectangular structures. They look like a remnants of an ancient town (these formations do not look natural and there is nothing similar in the entire area):
13 42'36.80" S, 75 51'4.07" W

I have tried to bring this to the attention of the world for at least 20 years. I have been posting this around the net for years. I totally wonder why the world will not let us in there to find out who and what made such a mechanical mark on the Earth. I worked with National Geological Survey and we had a unit that made two holes across Texas and it looked just like those holes which are 8 units wide and about four feet deep. I believe it was done to do what we were doing — testing the ground for minerals.
