Quote of the Day:

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.

  1. oh Lordy, Lordy!
When it comes to Jesus, you have to decide why you believe he exists. Is it because your religion and surroundings has conditioned you to believe? Or do you genuinely think he was a flesh and blood human being? I think the reason why so many scientists are ditching him is because of the atheist in them saying that “God does not exist, therefore A + B = C” but I find it a lot easier pill to swallow if we chase Jesus off the pedestal and say “Yes he was a human being.” The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. Look I get that 90% of The Bible is based off of already existing legend and dogma from previous religions, including Paganism, Zororastianism, Mithraism, the Egyptian Mysteries, and so on and so on. But isn’t it possible that a man learned these ancient traditions and wanted to pass them down the only way he knew how, by bringing a religion to the surface and out of the dark underground to which is its birthright? i’m sorry but when you think about it, it’s not too different to what L. Ron Hubbard came to realize, the old adage “You get more flies with honey…” and by making a religion you make more money than just writing books. The religious leaders of the past altered the stories of the locals and adapted them to Jesus’s life. Hell there’s a story from the Pagans of Ireland that speaks of a holy child that matches Jesus’s story completely. Does this mean that Jesus wasn’t real? No because Jesus was long dead by then and that was what the priests of the Dark Ages where telling people. His life is like a massive game of telephone and scientists need to swift through what is real and what was just stuck to the side of it later on. Maybe they are tired of doing it and would rather just say Fuck It! and move on. But countless years of researching Jesus has helped humanity make some amazing discoveries and we should not let those discoveries disappear into nothing just because you “think” he never existed. I’m just not ready to throw the towel in and say he was all a concoction, not because of what I’ve been lead to believe, but because we don’t have the proof on either side yet.

That all being said…can someone please remind Russia that when they send life forms up in to space, that – like humans – they need food, water and sunlight…not just keep them in a glorified “shoe box under the bed” like I used to do when I was a kid.

    1. This and
I was thinking today, as christians were so hated in their early days, could it be possible that the writings (read: evidence) about Jesus were destroyed by Romans/Jewish in order to destroy christianity?

  2. As with many of us here…
…I’ve long leaned towards the theory that Jesus is a mythological creation.

But this doesn’t mean he’s not “real”.

We create the gods as much as they create us – I think it’s a closed system.

But think about how much millions of people have invested in the notion of a historical Jesus: their whole lives and reasons for being, I would guess. It’s no wonder that this notion of a non-historical Yeshua is met with so much violence.

    Love,
