Elder Scrolls Grail Expansion

Long-time TDG reader Bill E. writes with some cool info on Et in Arkay Ego, an adventure quest set in the computer role-playing game world of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion:

The adventure is a freely downloadable modification (Mod) for the PC. The quest draws upon many themes found in the lore of the Grail and Arcadia. We are getting very positive feedback and the mod has been voted number 9 on the list of top Mod’s at Planet Elder Scrolls. Version 1.1 was recently released in early March. Here is the link to our trailer.

Players will experience a whole new side to the “Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” on an epic adventure into the soul of Tamriel. … As an adventurer in Tamriel (the in game continent where the quest occurs), you come across a collection of documents that hint at an amazing secret – that the God of Life is dead! Following an interesting trail of clues and quests, you will come across an underground society thought to have perished thousands of years ago. From the idyllic-minded Shepherds of Arkay, to the lore-minded Brothers of the Underground Stream, to a bard humorously singing your praises; “Et in Arkay Ego” is a mod unlike any other. For the discerning gamer, they will find a tale inspired by the lore of Arcadia and the quest for the Holy Grail. Do you dare seek the knowledge and power of a God?…

Thanks Bill. Great to see these sorts of mods being put together (the best I ever managed was a Quake mod which threw five times the gibs around…I failed at QuakeC). I know the Secret World folks have perused TDG once or twice as well – look forward to seeing more TDG-like themes cropping up in games in future.

  1. The Secret World
If you’re interested in the Secret World, I recommend visiting the Sanctuary of Secrets. Good luck with the riddles! Or you can jump straight to the official website at Dark Days Are Coming for teaser cinematics and a labyrinthine message board of arcane knowledge and ancient secrets. I also highly recommend the brilliantly written timeline at Cry Gaia, a wonderful fansite: this will explain how it all began two years ago to the uninitiated. CG’s chief has also started a fantastic initiative, Quest for the Flag, to bid for the flag of famed Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen, which will be presented to game developer Funcom, located in Oslo. Generous gesture and a worthy cause — Funcom will give the flag in turn to the Fram museum. Donate a few kroner and be Norwegian for a day.

Dark days are here. Be the light.

      Hi Rick,

I thought you mentioned Sanctuary of Secrets here on TDG a little while back, but when I got back from my traveling I couldn’t find it (was interested in checking it out). Did you disappear it, or did I have my “I’ve just driven 4000km” eyes on and plain missed it? Or did I just have a premonition about it and you’ve never mentioned it here?

      Kind regards,
      Greg

Your brain may have made a decision without telling you. 😉 Nah, I did mention it in a news brief last week. The Sanctuary of Secrets is still online, and accepting challengers to run its gauntlet of mythological secrets and ancient riddles. It’s a good one — tough in places, so if you get stuck let me know.

Or you can cheat and read the walkthrough. It all began with a mysterious stranger named Apis posting a link to a video, which seems to have disappeared. Morse code in the video (spooky shadows and water, very Japanese horror) led to the url for Sanctuary of Secrets.

        1. Ah
I somehow thought you had posted a standalone story about it. Perhaps you suggested that to me in an email. My brain is scrambled. Reboot please. 😉

          Kind regards,
          Greg

Hrmm, maybe I did post a standalone. Now I’m confused, and my brain runs Windows. Whatever I did, I’m sure my brain thought of it before I did.
