Ego - The False Center
Posted by tehotu at 06:57, 13 Jan 2006A child is born without any knowledge, any consciousness of his own self. [...] He does not know who he is; he simply knows what others think about him. And this is the ego: the reflection, what others think.

something like this pass me by, but because you posted so many blogs in a row, which to me is a little unfair, but anyway I feel the need to say that I tried hard to read behind the link, several times, and it is just gabbage. Sorry, but a complete misinturpretation of the ego. It was also written more like mis-information then any real conveyence of an idea or theory.
Mind you, tehotu, your title is spot on.....Ego-The False center.
DISCLAIMER: the opinions and veiws in this post are mine only and are not those of others or of TDG. Any similarities are by chance only.

I like your sense of humor thefloppy2...
If you read the material on Life after Death from my other entry, you might find connection with the False Ego article...

I've read your articles and I question the validity of there perspectives; but, that's just my opinion and there is room for disagreement. Concerning your article about the Ego, I strongly agree with thefloppy2 and earthling! Furthermore, I strongly disagree with the perspective of the author of the article!

Let me bring to you the context of the Ego article from this page:
http://www.world-mysteries.com/sci_3.htm...
The following is a quote from the "Buddha Gospel":
"Only through ignorance and delusion do men indulge in the dream that their souls are separate and self-existent entities. Thy heart, O Brahman, is cleaving still to self; thou art anxious about heaven but thou seekest the pleasures of self in heaven, and thus thou canst not see the bliss of truth and the immortality of truth.
"I say to thee: The Blessed One has not come to teach death, but to teach life, and thou discernest not the nature of living and dying.
This body will be dissolved and no amount of sacrifice will save it. Therefore, seek thou the life that is of the mind. Where self is, truth cannot be; yet when truth comes, self will disappear. Therefore, let thy mind rest in the truth; propagate the truth, put thy whole will in it, and let it spread. In the truth thou shalt live forever. Self is death and truth is life. The cleaving to self is a perpetual dying, while moving in the truth is partaking of Nirvana which is life everlasting."

Tehotu,
are you doing anything other than promoting a particular religion?

It is quite common that children of (female) singers are familiar with the songs and music performed before they were born. Human conciousness development does not begin with the moment of birth. It is a gradual process, and it begins ealier, and takes decades afterwards to develop.
I also disagree with the concept that Ego as such is evil - how are we to act correctly, responsibly, if we do not know how we are ? Giving up our self just leads to bad societies. Mao, Stalin, Hitler basically all said this: you are nothing, your people is everything. Look at the results.
Overemphasized ego is distructive. Giving up your individuality, giving up your individual rights, leads to massive abuse of individual human rights.
