It's the Supreme Court, Stupid!
Posted by shadowmom at 23:26, 26 May 2005Yeah, I'm the one. I was that voice screaming about the SC before the last election. FOUR JUSTICES, folks....four of them, will be selected by the ninny in the White House, and approved by the lemming herd in the Senate.
Psst. Frist won this round. Owens and the other bargaining chips have LIFETIME appointments. That's LIFE - time....as in always and forever! Just wait, the nuclear option will be back as soon as Scalia takes over the top job and the vacancies begin. Trust me.
So, what's the agenda? What is all this about? Don't you KNOW? Probably not. Dang,....you really should know. But I won't push it..I'll let you in on the secret:
Bill Frist knows: it’s all about the judges. That’s all, only the judges.- He is paving the way for advocates of the five fundamentalist obsessions that matter most to this faction. And he is actually getting it done.

At least in America I can still make decent dinner without having my utensils taken away by the government!

Sorry, I may have been I little outspoken with the knife post. I have a huge problem with statements like” the ninny in the White House” I have been a republican my entire life. I have voted republican in every election with two exceptions. One, when George W Bush ran against Al Gore and two, when W Bush ran against Kerry. I voted for Gore the first time around and chose to sit it out the second time around. I would have loved to have voted for the Democrats candidate but given his record I felt that there was no way I could trust him. At least with Bush I knew what I was getting, right or wrong. So I chose to sit it out. I realize that a lot of people that frequent this wonderful site don’t live in America but I would like to appeal to everyone’s intellectual side. I for one feel that the America that was founded so many years ago, based on wonderful ideals doesn’t exist anymore, but calling names and cryptic phrases does no one any good. We all need to make our voices heard. We need to present our arguments and ideals to our representatives be they foreign governments or our own elected officials. I for ones have grown sick and tired of the political rhetoric that has been spewed forth in the media from the current Star Wars film review to the latest Law and Order episode. The Daily Grail has been my one escape, but apparently no more. People may choose to hate America based on our current president but I appeal to everyone to realize that our system of government does not allow for him to server more that two terms. That is the beauty of our system of government. When ever I lose site of that I go to Bruton Parish church and sit through a service knowing that it was our father’s church. It keeps me centered. I don’t know what to recommend for others.

Many don't hate the US but hate what is becoming of the world and the US is a big piece of the puzzle. Since corporations were allowed to become the ruling entity, the US has lost its democratic soul and through the capacity of this country's wealth and power of persuasion, the corporate agenda has been a pressure to bring the world to fall under the non-democratic wing of market rules.
I have sensed from commentators a lot more resentment towards this administration than I have towards the US citizens. Truth is that some are likely to blame the population for electing these but in all fairness, when one looks at world governments in general, looks at the fine print behind trade deals that will for instance allow corporations to sue governments if they would dare passing laws that would benefit their population but cause them to lose business opportunities, the US can't be singled out as a guilty party. There is something wrong when sitting at the same table are planning and consulting the large corporations’ representatives and the executives of the major intelligence agencies.
The current power of the US has made it the ideal country to serve as the main base for these profoundly stateless characters who don't vow for the people by the people but that only live by and for their interests. If another country had this strategic advantage, that is where the center of operations would have been localized. Not all such figures reside in the US and they do conspire.
As individuals, we are somewhat responsible for this situation because we should have since we could have foreseen this being played out. There have been many warnings, such as those even that have come from US Presidents even. People chose not to heed these warnings because they thought that the situation could turn to their advantage. Someone needs only raise the flag to bring all under his wings less they would be pegged as unpatriotic, like in the Catholic church many will comply only for fear of excommunication. That is the fate of those that belong to a country and not to themselves.
It is somewhat ironic that in the West, the so called civilized world who has done away with slavery officially, has given back the means to enslave to the very same interests who had been stripped of them for not such a long while. Now it is the enslavement of civilization that is being organized and we are happily and blindly hoping it will go forward.
