Tolkien will write another book, 37 years of being dead hasn't stopped him. He will recover from this too.

I was so looking forward to seeing Del Toro's take on the Shire, and I'm sure as hell won't be able to wait another 40 years until Tolkien's new book gets a movie deal :-/
Kind of ironic, if you think about it. Racists often claim that Mexicans are lazy. But it's because of MGM's idleness that Guillermo had to make the decision, lest it affected his other multiple projects in the back burner.

It's all those film execs insisting on inserting a Hobbit side trip to a tropical island like they keep seeing in the news.
I'm not bummed. Guillermo will have more time for Hellboy 3!!!

I don't know if it's more of an issue with MGM —the current holders of Tolkien's copyrights for film— being broke, than a delay brought up by trying to tell the story of Bilbo's high school years so they can cast Zac Effron for the part.
This still will be Guillermo's decade, for sure. I want to read the second book of his vampire trilogy already :)
