NEW COLD WAR??

This was only a few weeks back where I just turned on my TV and found a news flash: "START OF A NEW COLD WAR?"...........I was quite alarmed by this as The Russians had announced very recently that they have a weapon of mass destuction that the World has not seen and the USA was claiming to have some kind of an electromagnetic shield. Is this the start of another arms race between the tow countires that were believed to be co-existing without aggression? IS This a beginning of a Totally New COLD WAR?

Dont think so, putin is on a tour - pacific conference, eu, venezuela next, he's trying to dislodge the world from the idea they have to dance to america's tune. As for the weapon, its been around for decades and its not as much a weapon of mass destruction as it is a weapon of mass disruption. Which would be in effect- short term- far more damaging to the usa than some cities being vaporised.
Disable the electric grid for months and what do you get.....total anarchy in a country that has more bullits than brains.

ha ha, nice expression there,
Putin has already withdrawn support for castro in cuba, but I think he's got something else up his sleeve, I mean, all of a sudden the relationship between the USA and Russia appeared to be getting better and suddenly there's this new announcement of a brand new weapon, I am not talking about the neutron bomb which is decades old but I am talking about something very new that Russia announced just last week!

We covered this in the News Briefs the other week. Heres the link again. Seems the new super weapon is a warhead that performs "crazy Ivan" jinks and twists in the air, making a missile defence system useless...for a fraction of the price of the missile defence system.

This is all very good info, thanks cernig! I was always wondering what kind of weapon they possessed, If the missile is really anti-missile defense, I am wondering how the USA will counter-attack this problem, they did announce they have a electromagnetic shield of some sort!
I really hope that just when the relations between the two countries start to get better, a new cold war begins.

I think the New Cold war scenario is likely to happen because of the election dispute in Ukraine. USA and allies are clearly supporting the opposition party while Russia supports the current prime minister.
I'm not sure about the US possesing electromagnetic shield. But I do know that they are working on an electromagnetic bomb or E-bomb.

hey, so you finally decided to become a member of TDG, thats all very good, I personally think that with the USSR's support for Castro withdrawn, and the blockade of the USA, Cuba, being one of the few communist countries, will retaliate somehow, with all this hatred of the USA in the world, the country is bound to fall someday...forgive me for getting carried away but it all really boils down to this: What climbs so high has got to fall someday and the USA is at a brink of collapse! I personally dont think that the US and the USSR will ever shake that special hand of friendship.
