Posted by epgrondine at 18:03, 11 Oct 2010Amazing. It turns out the Dolphin guy is just repeating earlier work:

and Carl Sagan, no less, set it all in motion:

only to have the dolpin mac him with Magaret Howe.

:-P
PS: John c. Lilly was certainly a fascinating character. I like that movie Altered States —and I still think it hints more on Castañeda than any other movie. I also remember seeing that movie The Day of the Dolphin with George C. Scott; very disturbing.
It's not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me...
It's all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

Just the idea of Sagan trying to pick up Howe brings a smile to my face. If there are a few more big name science types involved... or military guys trying to train dolphins for combat...
Lilly taking acid to try to communicate with a dolphin is one thing, but him giving it to Peter was out of bounds, in my opinion. Something unethical about uninformed dosing.
Of course, the secret overlords of Sea World would never allow the story to get out... though it has made the Mensa mag this month.
At least I still have my sense of humor...
