I tried to google-earth the site, and I am convinced this is the same area that the purported "alien" abduction of Mr Todd Sees took place.
I could be mistaken though!

Here is a link to the story for those not familiar with it's details...

But alien abductions were not the thought that I had in mind.
Instead its the other monolith mentioned in the piece.

I lean towards Mr. J. Keel's thoughts on "aliens," so tend to think of all of these strange phenomena as being related in ways we just haven't been able to suss out yet.

I lived in an area of Massachusetts where, if one went for a walk any distance in the woods, one could find the remains of "stone walls" that were assumed to have been built by early colonists, though they were not long or high enough to be much use for what one would normally think of as normal or desirable for a "wall."

I gather it is now understood that these were built by the previous inhabitants, and that they denote forgotten things about astronomical alignments deemed important or maybe even "sacred" to these people!

This part of Massachussets [Cape Cod]is an odd place, but it really did open my eyes to the fact that we can very often miss evidence of the past that is right before our eyes, as long as we give ourselves a somewhat plausible alternative [with the emphasis often on "somewhat."]
