Looks pretty good so far. Really big news if it holds up.

Ever since I read or heard about that find in Cuba it immediately caught my attention. Pity that the current political atmosphere has slowed the research of those underwater anomalies.

It's not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me...
It's all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

Than the deep water site off Cuba proposed several years ago - didn't you read the piece?

Judging from the pictures, I don't think they're going to have too much problem raising money to look at this. Clive Cussler will probably be on it in a heartbeat.

Going by those pictures, I would say it's a hoax. I would say most of that sea floor has been plotted by radar in the past, something as defined as this would have showen up. The lines are very straight and very neat. The buildings are large and all are very different, much like a modern city. But if not a hoax, then this is the biggest find for a very long time.

I go with Floppy,

If this is real it would be very cool, though i would suspect that it might not be full of spaceships and advanced technology - if anyone wants to take the bet.

Is it just me though who wonders why, if it is visible from satellite, they don't just hire a boat and go and take some pics first, have a dive etc. Esp since going the whole hog with an expedition and raising the funds, gaining clearance from the government etc before just taking a look seems a little crazy. That is a lot of effort when it might be something less spectacular, and especially as they seem to be asking the public to fund it, which would incorporate a few moral dimensions to how well the money is spent.

Also, isnt it a bit odd to ask for funding through a newspaper article where to fund them you have to go through the publisher. Is anything they find salvage? Can they not get a small bank loan, or just work and save for a few months, and go and hire a boat? + have a little holiday.

I agree with floppy, this looks fishy.

The angles look strange for a satellite picture, and there seem to be clouds in the foreground. Very low orbit satellite apparently :)

Yes, the angles are strange

Apparently the clouds are reflections of the sky on the surface of the water.

Does anyone know of any confirmed submerged cities that we might be able to compare against this? I know sedimentation rates are variable depending on the situation, but i'm wondering what affect that would have on the roads etc.

I don't have brains enough left to figure out if this is a hoax or not. If it is a hoax, they did a pretty good job of it. We'll know by tomorrow morning.

Looks like an image of some kind of electronics superimposed over oceanic views.

someone should get in touch with Sam Raymond from Cape Cod, MA. in the USA.
He LOVES a good mystery, he has the credentials, and probably already has the resources to check something like this out...

If this is for real, you would think that someone would have spotted it long ago. And I agree, it has many similarities to the superimposition of a printed circuit. Will wait and see.

The pictures are simply not believable. Anything that visible would have been outed on Google Earth long ago.

It's a real shame. I personally believe that the Caribbean and the Mediterranean were both much lower in the distant past, presenting potential settlement sites for the ancients, similar to the Black Sea. Something will be found eventually, but not today.

But we'll see.

Given the tectonics of the area, this could be another sunken colonial port.
