Will the real alchemist please stand up!?

Tired of losing your cool?
Tired of "not fitting in"?
Tired of everything?

There's a pill for that!

Mental transmutation is the game and relation is the fame.

Stuck behind 3 cars at a stop light on the way to work, already 10 minutes late, it's 8am and I don't want to put up with this shit so early. Then a vagrant thought travels through my head like a whisp of air... "Influence is everywhere..." The light turns green and we all play follow the leader.

What couldn't have been said in that brief thought is the unanswerable worth of information obtained in mere seconds. All day at work I think and think and think...

If I'm the first at a stop light with a bunch of traffic behind me a choice is presented. Punch the gas or start off slow. Then I imagine the impact this choice will have on the people behind me.

What if a person is going to the store? Will my speed impact their arrival time? How long will the line be when they get to the store? Could the line's length have changed between different arrival times? If so how much more impact could this one event have? If I can impact someones life this much from just a simple stop light, how much more impact can I have through other means?

And so begins the spiral.

Mental: of or relating to the mind

Transmutation: an act or instance of transmuting or being transmuted:
a : the conversion of base metals into gold or silver
b : the conversion of one element or nuclide into another either naturally or artificially

Adaption for humanity is as easy as breathing. One may complain, cry, gripe, and hate their enviroment but no matter, it is what you make it, rejection is an illusion. It should go without saying that one doesn't need to love or cherish their enviroment either. With this thought in mind one can justify all their means, however moraly true is left to the conjurer. Nullify everthing.

When one enlarges their expectancies, "normal" actions become apparent. Almost. Observation and trending must be taken into account without it there is no starting point
Example- If I pose the same question in same enviroments to two seperate individuals and their answers are different one must weight the differences and evaluate the best outcome the second time around.

We do this subconsiously all the time. But bringing it into the light opens up much more than one would expect. Taking ones life into account and the understanding gained thus far builds a strong foundation.

Now, I'm leaving this blog entry here. For 2 reasons-
1. It's for future reference
2. Most importanty, see what others say and NO I don't claim to be a true alchemist... Not yet at least :D

It's the only Paulo Coelho novel I've read. Some people don't like it, but I thought it had a lot of valuable lessons.

PS: I'm also very fond of Full Metal Alchemist :-P

You can almost count me in with that crowd. I read the first half of it, and then something came up.

the Coelho book, you mean? It must have been something REALLY important, considering it only takes a week or so to read ;)

Yes my comment was about Coelho's book. I didn't find it particularly enlightening or entertaining, but perhaps that would have been in the second half of it. I'll probably never find out.

And if that interruption was something really important, I forgot that too. This was in 2004 sometime, I remember some events shortly afterwards.

There's nothing wrong with a reader dropping off a book if it failed to catch his interest. Like Guillermo del Toro said in that past conference: "I don't do homework with my life".

I also remember there was talk of making a movie out of the book, with Lawrence "Morpheus" Fishburne as the Alchemist. That alone got me interested :)

BTW, have you read already Bergier's Dawn of the Magicians? it deals a lot with alchemy and mentions Fulcanelli.

For anyone with a short attention span (e.g. myself), but also interested in alchemy in Jungian or esoterical sense, i can not recommend Antero Alli's "Angel Tech" highly enough.

It has a very compact, yet stimulating, presentation of Alchemy.

Currently I'm stuck in one of those 'What do I read next?' phases. I purchased the The Lesser Key of Solomon a few weeks ago, which I'm looking forward to reading soon but I've been holding off on reading my first edition copy of Carl Jung's Red Rook. So damn happy I got the first edition! :D So really I'm juggling the two at the moment. Read the huge epic of Carl Jung or start my demonology course sooner than expected... Tough choices!

Read both, at the same time.

When you grow tired of Jung, switch to the other. That's what I do :)

I've tried that and it's too hard for me. I decided to go with the Red Book first, been waiting to read that thing for a year now. Must say though, I take notes and write stuff in by books when necessary; doing this in the Red Book is going to be an event in itself! Can't wait to read it :D

Have you ever noticed on a routine day the changes you go though in mentality? Wake up happy? Stuck in traffic aggravation? Working blues? Somber return home?

It takes great situational awareness to recognize these "swings". Could it be that we are merely swinging from one emotional branch to the other subconsciously? Branches of the emotional tree... What if this was not subconscious?

These questions I've posed myself have helped me see myself in a different light. They've built something highly sought after, and something that can never be taken away. Control. A foundation of self-righteous control. It seems like transforming the most basic and fundamental part of existence 'Survival of the fittest' ,i.e., Selfishness, into an unshakable foundation.

There is something in Mental Transmutation that is pure magic.

I think I see what you mean. To do so would require that we are forever aware of ourselves, not unlike what Gurdjeff teaches.

I honestly don't know if it could be accomplished. But just like in Alchemy, I suspect the effort yields its own reward.

Pure self-awareness is pretty difficult to do 100% of the time, I would imagine. But much like Nirvana, it only takes a few moments of sudden realization for such a thing to become enlightened. And this is just my personal foundation, also, I don't know a single person who knows anything about Mental Transmutation so this is kind of me looking for more personalized information from other sources. Probably the wrong place though :D

I stopped driving 18 1/2 years ago! I walk most of the time or, when time is a factor, I take the train. Time is usually a factor when the place is over 6 kilometers away from me, not always! Furthermore, I'm in great health. So, the solution to your driving problem is simple! Don't drive; because, if you don't drive you will never have to be in the traffic situation that you described above and, by walking, your life style will become much healthier.

In principle, the conversion of any element into any other element is simple; because, all that you have to do is to add or subtract Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons. You don't even need an Alchemist to do it!:) Thus, in principle, your second problem is solved. But, in practice, it's a little more difficult to do!

What do you think?

Seems like there's some confusion, I'll clear that up for you..

Mental Transmutation like a psychology of sorts. Since I'm the only one I know who does know about it, all I can tell you is what I know. It's a Hermetic philosophy that involves ones own power over ones own mind and the control needed to do such a thing. This power can be used to control your temperance, which in turn allows one to view their control in third person, e.g., subconscious is now conscious, a new layer of reality has been added to your being.

The car drive is a loose metaphor for a person having to make a decision and the possible outcome of that decision via the effect is has on your surroundings. This is part of mental alchemy, actually more like a stage of it. What I do is a reflection of my environment and vice versa. We all have an amazing ability to control our environments already, it's just we don't notice these affects... yet.

Hope that cleared it up for you :D

p.s. If there was no confusion you would be absolutely right! Well you are right about the walking part, I need to do whole lot more walking :D

After reading a few things about alchemy, you come to the conclusion that the *real* purpose behind this hermetic discipline was not to turn lead into gold, but to turn the mortal self of the alchemist into "divine" matter. In short, to become immortal.

I'll start off by saying that I believe we are all immortal already. Our physical bodies coupled with our actions through time leave eternal changes. Much like my stop light metaphor. The atoms that build up our body are forever changed because we use them and in turn may create new life billions of years from now, who knows maybe we are remade in the future when certain measures have met that mimic your birth on Earth just as another type of life-form.

But as for becoming consciously immortal I have no idea. I believe that the Hermetic message of Mental Transmutation is the ability to control our environment (getting what you want or adapting to what you get), but it's much more complicated and involved than that. It would take days trying to explain it but from what I've gathered The Kybalion is (personally) teaching me the laws of all mentalities and how to control them. It's like turning the blob of consiousness we have into a golden temple. It's so hard for me to explain XD

It was also to help the alchemist achieve the normally unachievable. This not just being immortality, but even more so becoming "reconnected" with what humans had before the Great Flood (opening the third eye). To see what can't be seen through the eyes we are given at birth. Many alchemists, such as Paracelsus, made medical and scientific discoveries, many unintentional, which we still use today. Alchemy may have been more of a way to get closer to God, not by immortality, but by seeking and finding the truth behind the wisdom of the "Immortals." Biting the fruit of knowledge, and blowing the hell out of your lab in the process...

Certainly, in the belief system of these men, what they were attempting was not so much as to break the laws of Nature, but to attain the true potential of the human experience, and return to a primordial "divine" state.

But the thing is that, like most hermetic traditions, they too held the belief that this divine state was reserved for only a few privileged initiates; or at least, a few individuals who show enough intelligence and commitment to devote their lives in this pursuit.

But they also believe that it is possible for humanity to reach this higher state. Most initiates would train their whole life before even reaching the state of "candidate." I believe everyone is capable of it, but most of us will not reach this state until the next lives.

Olympus,

I understand now!

Walking is great for your health! I usually average about 20,000 a day; but, I always walk atleast 10,000 steps a day. I feel great, can wear clothes that I wore in High School, have excellent health, look like I'm about 45 years old, and I'm actually a 62 year old man whose as healthy as a 40 year old man, maybe healthier!

What do you think?
