I read that, of course! In the novel "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. Most recommendable.

Yes often the books are mirrors but I think also that they are a way to know other thoughts, other worlds different from us.

But the mirror metaphor helps to explain why some people find books to be dull and boring: because they themselves are dull and empty on the inside.

And the books you relate the most are the ones that tell you something that deep down you already knew, but in a different manner or from a different perspective.
