Salve!

Yesterday was the birthday of Rome
Ieri era il compleanno di Roma

According to legend, the Eternal City was founded in 753 BC by the twins Romulus and Remus who were raised by an accommodating she-wolf. and During the Fascist regime, April 21 was selecting as a celebration of Rome's birthday, replacing the labor festival of May 1st with its Communist undertones. Now we celebrate both holidays! On April 21 and 22, Many businesses will be closed, there will be events in the parks involving people dressed as gladiators and vestal virgins, and at noon, the bells will peal from the tower of the Campidoglio.

home is where the heart is, and
for thousands of years thats where my anchestors were.
in the heart of samnite territory in italy.

well said about rome and its founding.
they founded rome after their relative
Aeneas fleed burning Troy and told them to find a new home.

well the story is long - samnites - rape of sabine women,
and rome became great and even last pharoh of eqypt were roman - and she created that wonderful temple - dendra and the zodiac, then rome created the rc church.

as for the samnites, sabines, they were there before rome its been said they came from turkey as well - and my guess with a name ciamarra - sounds just like chimaera ( mother of sphinx it was near the flaming rocks in southern turkey.

but even myths were saying that prior to turkey that they indeed were in italy prior to turkey. and scholars found remains of a 700,000 year old Primitive Man in italy.

hopefully this year will be better for italia than last as it losted one of its dearest son's and daughters which shocked the world , My relative and dear friend was murder while vacationing in mexico to have a beach wedding at a high class resort for his daugther. needless to say the police and poltics on both sides were a joke in the past year because the tourism was at stake. but we will miss domenic ianiero - his playing the accordian at family gatherings as we sang the old folks songs like- quel mazzolin di fiori, reginella campagnola, etc.

but who knows the will of god, and like my father used to said, sometimes god craves for ciamarra's tears for those are the sweetest.

but happy birthday rome and forza italia
