Dear Katya. This is indeed a society of trash - terrible waste of precious resources. Once if you bought something like, say, a refrigerator, you expected it to last almost a lifetime; now you are lucky if it survives in functioning form until the warranty expires. Once you could 'trade in' older stuff which still worked to offset the cost of newer stuff; now the older stuff no longer works and no-one wants it so it ends up in landfill. Sad, sad.
More stories like the primroses one, please!

We live in a throw-away society where everything is built to self-destruct and be disposed of instead of to last. On the whole, Africa is a shining exception to this. In Africa they find ways to reuse and recycle things naturally. We in the industrialized world can recycle; but, we don't seem to care. We could build things to last; but, very few of us would want to keep them forever. Then, we worry about depleting our natural resources!

I don't know if the Africa is really an exception.
Often Africa seems a country to drift, full of wars and famines, exploited and abandoned from the industrialized world.
...My next blogs will be more frivolous ;-)
