A FAIRY TALE FOR THE START OF SUMMER
It was a Summer night on the gulf of Fairies of Floj.
The Sky was dark and between the there was soft crying.
A swarm of little winged insects went up to that sound
A woman was hidden between the stones, keeping an asleep child between her arms.
“Why you cry?” asked an insect to the woman.
“I am lost in the dark” answered the woman “high tide is raising and I don’t know how to save myself and my child”.
So the insects offered their help “We know the way and we can see very well in the dark: we drive you at home”.
The little swarm flied driving step by step the woman to her home.
“Thak you” whispered her “Tell me your name so I can narrate to all the people your goodness”.
The insects answered “Nobody gave us a name”.
While they spoke gave a kiss on the blond hair of the child and when they lifted themselves their body shone as a little star.
So the woman moved for this magic said “from now on your name will be fire-fly and will bring the Stars in the Summer night”.

LITHA
Many people believes that the 21 June is the start of Summer, but it is not true,
The Summer starts the day of Beltane, in May.
The 21 June is when the Summer catches up its top.
For this reason because Litha often is called Midsummer.
It is the Summer Solstice, when we have the most long day of the year and, of course, the most short night.
For the energies connected to this day, Litha is the time where the magic is at the top of its power. Like Samhain, Litha is the day with frontiers between the worlds are thin and the mortal can have strange experiences and the faires assembles themselves on the valleys.
But the Litha’s trait to be a “Day out from the time” is very different from Samhain’s traits.
Litha have opposite traits: the thing often are reversed or confusing.
The celebrations of Litha starts in the midnight of the 20 June to continue until 23 June.
Litha is celebrated with music, dances, fires to honour the Sun and encourage it to reach, its maximum potential.
The Midsummer night is the most important of the celebrations connected to the folklore of the faires.
The Goddess with look of a girl have met the young God and have had her sacred in the Beltane time, now is Mother, pregnant, as the Earth is full of the increase of the next harvest.
The Mother reigns Queen of Summer and by her that her spouse reaches the realization of his role and his last sacrifice.
She is the Earth he is the energy and warmth into the Earth so together is possible that a new life can born: the harvest, the corn, fruit that will feed people and animals.
The God will become a wanted sacrifice, falling with the harvest and becoming seed for his rebirth.
It is use throw 9 qualities of herbal into the fire: Iperico, Rue, Verbena, Mistletoe, Lavander, Thyme, Fennel , Plantain and Artemisia.
An herb connected to Litha is the herbal of Saint John or the Iperico.
A legend says that who trip on the root of Iperico in the night of Litha, will transported in the faires world.
The Iperico picked these days can be hanged on the door as un amulet.
Another plant sacred of Litha is the mistletoe that was cut at midday with a golden, but if the mistletoe touched earth would have lost its magic.

UNA FAVOLA PER L’INIZIO DELL’ESTATE
Era una notte d’estate sul golfo delle Fate di Floj.
Il Cielo era nero e tra gli scogli si udiva un pianto sommesso.
Uno sciame di piccoli insetti alati si avvicinò verso quel suono.
Una donna si nascondeva fra le rocce, tenendo in braccio un bambino addormentato.
“Perché piangi?” le chiese un insetto.
“Mi sono persa nel buio” rispose la donna “L’alta marea si sta alzando ed io non so come portare in salvo me e il mio bambino”.
Allora gli insetti offrirono il loro aiuto “Noi conosciamo la strada e vediamo bene anche di notte, ti porteremo noi al sicuro”.
Il piccolo sciame volò in avanti e guidò passo per passo la donna fino a casa.
“Grazie di cuore” sussurrò lei “Ditemi il vostro nome perché possa raccontare a tutti la vostra bontà”.
Gli insetti risposero “Nessuno ci ha dato un nome”.
Mentre parlavano deposero un bacio sui capelli biondi del bambino e quando si sollevarono il loro corpo brillava come una piccola stella.
Allora la donna commossa da quella magia disse “D’ora in poi vi chiamerete Lucciole e porterete le Stelle nelle notti d’Estate”.

LITHA
Molte persone credono che il 21 Giugno è l'inizio dell'estate, ma ciò non è vero,
l'estate inizia a Beltane, in Maggio.
Il 21 Giugno è quando l'estate raggiunge il suo picco massimo. Questo è il perchè Litha è chiamato spesso Midsummer o Mezz'Estate.
E' il momento del solstizio d'estate, quando abbiamo il giorno più lungo dell'anno e ovviamente, la notte più breve.
Per le energie ad esso attribuito, Litha è il momento in cui la magia è al massimo della sua potenza.
Come Samhain, Litha è un altro giorno in cui i confini tra i mondi sono sottili,
quando i mortali hanno strane esperienze e quando le fate si adunano per le valli.
La caratteristica di Litha di essere un "giorno fuori dal tempo" è molto diversa da quella di Samhain.
Litha ha le qualità al contrario: cioè le cose sono spesso ribaltate o confuse.
Le celebrazioni iniziano alla mezzanotte del venti e continuano fino al 23.
Litha è festeggiata con la musica, le danze e i falò, il tutto per onorare il Sole e incoraggiarlo a giungere al suo massimo potenziale.
L notte di Mezz'Estate è la più importante celebrazione connessa al folklore delle fate.
La Dea, che nel suo aspetto di fanciulla ha incontrato il giovane Dio e ha avuto il suo matrimonio sacro a Beltane, adesso è Madre, incinta, come la Terra è piena della crescita del prossimo raccolto. La Madre regna come Regina dell'Estate ed è attraverso di lei che il suo Consorte raggiunge la realizzazione del suo ruolo e del suo ultimo sacrificio.
Lei è la Terra; lui è l'energia e il calore che è entrato nella Terra così che assieme potrà nascere nuova vita.
La sua energia nascerà con il raccolto, il grano e la frutta che nei prossimi due giri della ruota maturerà e ciberà le persone e gli animali.
Il Dio diventerà un voluto sacrificio, cadendo con il raccolto e diventando seme per la sua stessa rinascita.
E’ usanza tirare 9 tipi di erbe nel fuoco di Litha: Iperico, Ruta, Verbena, Vischio, Lavanda, Timo, Finocchio , Piantaggine e Artemisia.
Un'erba associata a Litha è l'erba di San Giovanni o l'Iperico.
Una leggenda vuole che se si inciampa sulla radice di san Giovanni la notte di Litha, si viene magicamente trasportati nel regno delle fate.
L'erba di San Giovanni presa in questi giorni può essere appesa sulla vostra porta come un amuleto di protezione.
Un'altra pianta sacra a Litha è il Vischio, sacro ai druidi che veniva tagliata a mezzogiorno con un falcetto, ma se il Vischio toccava terra avrebbe perso la sua magia.
