The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the state of Oregon's assisted suiside law by a vote of 6 to 3! Alito's vote would not have made a difference! It is a great day!

President Bush is asking congress to lift the ban on using regular U.S. military troops inside the United States. When Gaius Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his army, he destroyed the Roman Republic. Should congress lift the ban on using U.S. military troops inside the United States and, in doing so, allow President Bush to cross the Political Rubicon? Should congress risk the destruction of the United States Republic by allowing President Bush to cross the Political Rubicon?

For those that are unfamiliar with this idea that was conceived by liberal psychiatrists and psychologists over 50 years ago. The Peter Principle basically states that:

People should be promoted to their highest level of incompetence instead of their highest level of competence.

This rule has been followed in the U.S. and many other countries. In effect it puts incompetent people incharge of competent people. I have always disagreed with this idea. The consequences of it are painfully obvious in the world today. Look at what happened in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Look at the pathetic efforts that are being made to solve the problems in the world. Look at the destructive practices of businesses that are destroying the good name of Capitalism. Look at the over paid incompetent corporate executives who prey on the under paid workers. Look at the the world and ask yourself, "Would competent business and political leaders have allow this to happen?"

Are we not already developing a unified world language based on English on the internet? We are slowly bridging cultural gaps through our communication on the internet, aren't we? Could this lead to one world government? In theory, is it possible? Would it beneficial for humankind? If so, why? If not, why?

Although some might disagree with me, I have never believed that we are the only evolved intelligent life forms in the universe or that we are the most evolved intelligent life form in the universe. I have often wondered about where we would rank on a cosmic scale.

Another thing that I have often wondered about is how other intelligent life would try to contact us. Not how we think they would, but how they would try to contact us.

Things like common sense, logic, and reasoning are cultural. Other evolved intelligent life forms in the cosmos will, almost certainly, be quite different from us in both appearance and cultural orientation. Although I think they would be able to, I have often wondered if they would be able to recognize us as evolved intelligent life forms and be able to bridge the cultural gap that exists between us in order to communicate with us.
