Monty Python’s ‘The Meaning of Life’

  1. Heaven’s Gate & American Culture
First of all, California is an enclave of weirdness. It’s debatable whether it should be considered part of the U.S. in pure cultural terms. The same goes for another “outlier” state, Florida.

Anyway, Heaven’s Gate is more of a vestige of by-gone American culture. Mark Twain perhaps best represented that culture of independence and anti-authoritarianism, including a passionate opposition to royal influence. Mark Twain even chose to end his life with the reappearance of Halley’s Comet (even as he had come into the world in the previous appearance of that same comet).

The vast majority of Americans have already drunk the coolaid of conformism. We want to maintain/recover our greatness as a nation, but without making any of the sacrifices of former generations, thank you very much!

    1. California, Golden state
To much neurosis coming from the east. California laid back, and the 5 largest economy in the world. Tired of the west coast being savaged by people who live in the penultimate of dystopia, east coast, and have little regard for the amazing people and zeitgeist of our beautiful and fruitful west coast, yes California! Choose wisely. 87
