That moment when you drop the bass…

Not every pony grows up to be a pegasus.

  1. Tut Analysis Paralysis
The article casually mentions that the Antiquities and Tourism ministers were fired in the past week (and just after announcing that a big discovery was imminent in Tut’s tomb)! I couldn’t find any other web articles about this shake-up. However, I did find that the Minister of Justice was also fired in March by Egypt’s Prime Minister (is he trying to emulate Donald Trump?) for saying his job was to imprison every law-breaker, “even if he is the prophet, peace and blessing be upon him.”

So, National Geographic, Zahi Hawass’ old chums have now been put in charge of the “hidden tomb” investigation. There’s got to be more to this story!

Um, sorry, I’m not feeling the love for visiting Egypt right now.

  2. Small Bands of Researchers in Isolation
Does anyone else find it ironic that even as there is news of a possible pre-Columbian Viking settlement that a new DNA study makes the broad assumption that “small founding populations which were isolated on the Beringian land bridge for around 2400 to 9000 years” allows them to infer that Spaniards killed off all indigenous peoples. How about considering the possibility that multiple migrations occurred and that there was a whole lot of screwing and killing in the Americas before Cortez and Pizarro came along? Surely “first nation” genetics is not quite as simple as they want to make it.

    1. Predator culture
The wiping out of the indigenous cultures by the European predator cultures is fact. No one should try to escape that fact. Shine forth brave souls. Dennis

      1. Political Correctness
There is no denying the devastating effect of Europeans on New World civilization. That doesn’t mean scientists get a pass when piecing together what happened in the Americas before Columbus. This new DNA study sounds like what you would get if you dug up some colonists at Jamestown and compared their DNA to the current residents of South Chicago. What do you suppose their conclusion would be, haha?

No irony on my end (but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t there) — cast a wide enough net (and with enough training), one can find connections & synchronicities everywhere :3

Ozymandians with his secret weapon of being able to look at every news outlet at the same time — connexions galore! :3
