“I don’t know anything, but I do know that everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.”

Quote of the Day:

“There are the rushing waves, mountains of molecules, each stupidly minding its own business trillions apart yet forming white surf in unison.”

R. Feynman

  1. peanut butter
I always remember it as Jif, but I think I may have an answer for this one. There is a recipe online that’s called “Jiffy” cake cookies – they can be made in a “jiffy”, meaning fast, and they use Jif peanut butter as an ingredient as well as Jiffy cake mix. This may be why people are confusing the names.

Here is a slogan from the 1950s when it was created: “Jif is never dry; a touch of honey tells you why.”

I don’t think it’s an alternate reality. My mom was born in 1941 and she remembers having Jif in the 1950s and I still have a jar of it in my pantry.

My view on time and time changing is like that of a dog breed. If you want a short-legged dog like a dachshund, as a result the breed can have heart issues. In other words, if anything did happen to change the history that changes the name of a peanut butter brand, something else much more noticeable would also be the result. So what is that big thing you ask? It would be hard to trace it but since it’s 9/11, I’m going to the default answer.

    1. Me too . . .
We loved this PB as kids and insisted that Mom always buy it. It has always and forever been Jif. The only place I’ve ever seen it called Jiffy is in the article linked here. Like the myth about so many people thinking that Mandela had died even though he was very much alive and still prominently in the news, it’s just paranormal claptrap. History hasn’t changed; there is no alternate timeline. But somebody is promoting this whacko hypothesis to create another paranormal money maker, I suspect. Stay tuned for the inevitable book.
