Happy 82nd birthday (for yesterday) to the late, great, Saint Bob

Thanks @drjohnwardkt.

Quote of the Day:

It’s important to abolish the unconscious dogmatism that makes people think their way of looking at reality is the only sane way of viewing the world. My goal is to try to get people into a state of generalized agnosticism, not agnosticism about God alone, but agnosticism about everything.

The myths are quite clear that we formed in a binary star system. The Enuma Elish calls one star system Tiamat and the other Lahamu. Tiamat eventually became the solar system we know today, however not before cannibalizing the twin’s planets! This model of solar system development is even corroborated by the Biblical story of Jacob “the Grabber” and Esau, in which Jacob is the Sun and Esau is his surly twin, a Red Dwarf. We now know that almost all Red Dwarfs have at least one planet, and even super planets (ala “Marduk”) are common. Red Dwarfs are also known to be quite volatile (ala the characterization of Biblical Esau). It also takes a powerful third star system (ala Biblical Laban, “White (Star)”) to separate gravitationally bound twins. Schematically, all of the elements are there in the myths and Biblical accounts. We just haven’t recognized the encoded cosmological knowledge.

The disorder we see in our present solar system is likely the vestige of its emergence from an original binary system. The big question is whether the twin is still out there. The Book of Genesis says that “Esau moved away” and with a suitable parting gift (orbital debris) from Jacob. But, it’s not clear that separation from the Red Dwarf was complete.

3D printing: we actually just had an art exhibit at my local gallery with 3D printing. It’s amazing what this new medium can create and I really wish I could afford a 3D printer. But you all know how new tech can be, it’s expensive one day and then the next you can by it at Walmart.

Beasts of Greece: Something this article could have touched on more is the fact that many ancient Greeks were inspired by fossils they found and like we do in modern times tried to figure out what exactly these creatures would have looked like. They didn’t have carbon dating though so they thought the animals/giants/griffins recently died. There is even a story of a farmer digging up mastodon bones while tilling his fields and mistaking them for a giant. Archeologists found it had been reburied and laid out to look like a humanoid form.

Mainstream outlets play catch-up with us: GrailSeeker posted about the Blue Book posting in his news last Tuesday:
