I’d like to be straightly looked after.

Quote of the Day:

We men of study, whose heads are in our books, have need to be straightly looked after! We dream in our waking moments, and walk in our sleep.

~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

  1. Iceland monster
This is not a new story, in fact i’ve seen it quite a few times on TV. And even though I’m one of those who always have hope that there is something there, and that video wasn’t altered, this may not be an animal. First off whatever these “sea monsters” may turn out to be better be warm blooded because a cold blooded animal could never survive in the ice like that, they would have to go into torpor and they would not stay by the surface to do that. There seems to be a lot of cross currents in the water being caused by all the ice redirecting the flow. It could be that Nature is doing this and not an animal. Yes it looks serpentine but it’s going at quite a strong clip to be swimming in ice water. Plus those ice chunks are staying flat on it’s back, which would be really heavy and not biologically accurate. For the animal to be completely flat backed to carry the ice it would loose it’s aerodynamic build that we see in real sea snakes, eels, dolphins, etc. Than towards the end of the video, looking at the currents, the ice on top of the “monster” changes direction with the currents. Good for the guy for making some money off it though, but I am still skeptical about this being an animal. We see the ice make giant circles just because of the wind, so it could very well be just that.

  2. Elephants
God the comments on the Youtube page. Get off it PETAboos. The elephants are in captivity – yes – maybe you should look at the whole story before you spout piss and vinegar at the zoo keeping them. Do I think the elephants are reacting to the music – yes. Do I think they are “dancing?” – I don’t know because I’m not an elephant, but clearly they hear differently than us. To them these tones may be on a frequency that causes them to act drunk almost hypnotizing them, that’s what I would think it more likely happening here. And the only time they snap out of it is when the freeze at the end because they hear a noise in the background, which I didn’t pick up on until I blasted my volume. Music soothes the wild beast, or maybe makes him drunk enough to pass by? I would like to see the results of other music including the low tones of a tuba that may drive them crazy! Time for some SCIENCE!!!

  3. Iceland serpent
Looks to me like the “head” isn’t advancing relative to the shore so my best bet is that we’re looking at a piece of rope or a twig or whatever stuck in the riverbed and covered with ice. Makes for a nice serpent-like movement in the currents. Pretty sure the guy could have verified that but I guess he’s happy collecting the cash and after all, it’s just a tourism gimmick 😉

    1. Elvish rope
I suspect there’s a branch or something underwater, definitely ice & flotsam caught up in a current. Unless he’s drowning huldufólk so he can build a road.
