One of the best investigations of the role of mirrors in haunting is "The House of the Rising Dead" - an episode of the documentary series "The Haunted." This can be downloaded from Netflix. This is just a great early episode anyway from the days when the economy was flooding advertisement coffers. Most of these series have fallen off in quality lately as advertising dollars have shrunk. They are rerunning and rerunning a lot, so The House of the Rising Dead still shows up on TV every now and then.

It can also be watched on Youtube though these copies are ephemeral:

The stroke victim transformation reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me about the father of one of his friends. the father has always been an absolute ogre until one day while sailing his boat the boom suddenly swung around and beaned him severely. After a lengthy recovery from extensive brain damage he emerged one of the happiest and most pleasant guys around. His son was thereafter afflicted with a complex guilt - both sadness and elation at what had happened. The father's intelligence was more or less not affected too much - he still functioned quite well, but then after awhile everybody became tired of his constant, indefatigable risibleness.

It makes you wonder about the possibility of causing a deliberate lesion in the brain of criminally violent convicts --and the 'orange clockwork' moral quandaries that would imply...

It's not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me...
It's all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

You just know its coming perhaps by chemical means which could masquerade as a "stroke" but in fact be an oranging.

...I forgot how I got here but everyone seems to be heading off in that direction. I hope someone brought food. I have a feeling this is going to be a long journey................

I strongly believe that animals can be a sign of a death, but never a bringer of death. Although, he should check his house for holes, as ferrets are predators and may have been following mice that live under his home.

Being the host for three cats in the exurbs there have been many instances of only partially maimed birds flying around inside the house - a classic harbinger of death a'comin', but never has death accompanied the event. Not only that - I have a perfect batting record at catching them in a super long handled net I fabricated and releasing back to their freedom outside.
