it is my understanding that dna may now be collected from anyone arrested…they do not need to have been convicted of a crime and the dna will be kept even if they are exonerated…

    1. Troubling
This is troubling news. How can they guarantee those samples won’t be misused in the future?

Maybe if they had an expiration date or something. But maybe I’m talking here out of my ass.

  2. We all live in a yellow submarine . . .
Okay. Do I really have to say this because it is so self-evident to anyone who’s not preternaturally stupid? Apparently, I do. Sigh.

If you are going to advocate your UFO beliefs on public (very heavy emphasis on the work “public”) Web sites, blogs, podcasts, at conferences, in books, magazines, in You Tube videos, etc., etc. you will inevitably draw in a wide range of individuals, some of whom may well be in the world’s militaries and intelligence communities.

In today’s modern world, people surf the Web during downtimes at work (no matter what their work) if they have unfettered Internet access. If UFOs are a personal (but not official) interest, they’ll surf UFO sites. They may start reading a post then need to go back to work, leaving that post running in the background while working in another application. Are they monitoring that post’s site? Personally, yes; officially no. Hell, I have a co-worker who has Pinterest running all day long, even though she’s not actually looking at it all day long. Is she monitoring Pinterest? Yes. Is our organization monitoring Pinterest? No. This is just widespread Internet human behavior.

So somebody or several somebodies in the Navy are looking at UFO sites. So what? These sites are putting out material for public consumption and the Navy people are just as much “the public” as anyone else. These phony “the government is spying on us” Ufology claims are more about ego self-aggrandizement and an attempt to appear credible than they are about the objective reality of the amount of downright silliness many sites simply parrot from each other.

The only reason an official monitoring scenario could hold even a drop of water is the unholy casual alliance that has formed between the anomalist community and the uber-right wing prepper and militia movements in America. They share a very strong anti-government, conspiracy viewpoint. So if sites are occasionally officially monitored it’s likely for security reasons that have nothing at all to do with UFOs and everything to do with looking for possible homegrown terrorism. Anybody here remember the Murrah Building? It’s still as big a deal for government types as 9/11.

    1. Preternaturally stupid (LOL)
Well, I did offer an alternative on my comment to Braggalia: that since the monitoring was so conspicuous, perhaps it’s done to mess up with the UFOlogists heads.

Greg Bishop experienced a phase of deep paranoia when in the middle of writing Project Beta, until he got tired of it & decided to go on with his life. Problem solved.

      1. I can’t imagine the Feds or
I can’t imagine the Feds or whoever spends much time on UFO’s these days. They have far bigger and more lucrative fish to fry with the so called “War On Terrorism.” Promulgating fear and paranoia about “terrorists” is numero uno project as well as attempting to cover up the various staged and managed ops such as the most recent Boston Bombing is where most of the energy is going via the shill network these days. Cass Sunstein as Obama’s Information Czar is a dedicated Chicago School zionist who is well know for promoting the idea that the government should “cognitively infiltrate” the net to steer things towards their favored, fabricated narrative.

god…Labyrinth….that’s why I miss how “children’s” movies used to be with the puppets and not the 3D crap we get today (and they were scary as hell). Although this fits the theme:
