Sean Carroll says "...the laws underlying the physics of everyday life are completely understood."
You write, RPJ, "So which part explains synchronicities?" Exactly. To which I'd add: which part explains the experience of love? The poetry of Rumi? Or reports of time-slips, NDEs, apparitions, deja vu, precognition, or any number of Fortean phenomena?

How about "consciousness still seems like a very big mystery, and we might never solve it entirely, so we might as well start considering other options, aside from keep doing what we've been doing?"
It's not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me...
It's all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

I'm sorry to hear that, bro. I know it's cliché, and often times annoying, but one should definitely count its blessing when compared to the lot of many people around you.
