It is sometimes useful to type keywords into Google ;) and see what comes up: Rossi's Response is one item, albeit a fanboi's site but it is nonetheless curious, as is the Wikipedia page where we learn that this Dick Smith story is in fact spreading FUD -- Rossi's Petroldragon was probably badly run, and ahead of its time, but the process did work, and most telling of all, he was acquitted of all charges.
Now, admittedly, you and I still don't know one way or the other, but it is still peculiar that the Yahoo story is getting such widespread publicity just as several competitor products (eg Defkalion) have been ramping up.
