I wonder if linking to TDG’s archive causes a timeloop paradox…

Thanks Greg & Kat.

Quote of the Day:

Mulder: …I believe that what we’re looking for is in the X-Files. I’m more certain than ever that the truth is in there.
Scully: I’ve heard the truth, Mulder. Now what I want are the answers.

  1. augmented stigmatization and ghosts
Augmented reality stuff will be really useful for many things. Suppose the wind shield in your environmentally sustainable car comes with weather information about the slippery road behind the next corner. And a warning about the pedestrian about to walk into the street from behind that bus.

In an office setting, your private augmented reality glasses, when looking at your boss, display the work you promised to get done.

Of course, as pointed out in the article, much privacy is already being sacrificed even before the benefits are widely available. Your monthly mortgage payments, and the fact that you missed 2 of them in only the last 27 years, will be visible to the augmented eye.

But it might be worse – you could be renting your place of residence. This may disqualify you from certain employment, as companies just don’t want to be associated with such economic losers.

And to take it further, if you live with your parents, forget about your chances in the dating scene. Your good looks, gentle manners and first rate genetics won’t matter, you are disqualified by that first augmented look.

And then of course there will be those people about who (or whom?) there are no data available. Will they be classified as criminals? Obviously they are hiding something.

Or will they become invisible, and become un-persons? They don’t document their existence, so they must not be there.

  2. I want a temple of Athena Nike
I understand the concept of ones own temple and I follow this rule daily. But I would love to have temples like this spread throughout my community. Temples for all kinds of Gods meaning wisdom, love, pleasure and hate. I used to have several special places to go in nature but none by the hand of man, mostly because of the clutter 😀 A small place to worship (even if just in concept) would be exceptional. Places made of marble and stone not of nails and plywood.

Imagine having temple of that stature within walking distance!

  3. Who parked the moon in Earth orbit? Who indeed!
What great effort by Jim Marrs on the origins of the moon!

As random as natural occurrence is, one has to wonder how the Earth happened in just the right orbit at just the right distance from the sun for just the right temperature, with just the right mix of land and water under just the right atmosphere with the perfect satellite in a perfect orbit to regulate the tides and most importantly, sweep the heavens of most of the incoming threats.

Are we genuinely blessed by God or the beneficiaries of the roll of the universal dice? Or could it all be the work of superior intelligences that saw to it that our chances were all but guaranteed for survival?

Rats in a maze? Bacteria under glass? Gladiators to Olympus in the arena Earth?

A very thought provoking article on humanity’s most neglected mystery.

    1. special
      who says we’re average?

Average beings don’t have such a nice planet, and average planets don’t have a nice moon.

And hey, the average human being isn’t born a rich white woman in Switzerland.

Should we thus conclude that there are no such people?

      1. Luna la fem?

        “who says we’re average?”

True… we really don’t have any standard but ourselves to judge from.

“Average beings don’t have such a nice planet, and average planets don’t have a nice moon.”

Hmmm. Taking that line of study one step further, who’s to say we don’t live in a gated solar community with manicured lawns and eight cars in every one of our celestial driveways?

“And hey, the average human being isn’t born a rich white woman in Switzerland.”

Well, being born rich, female or caucasion, perhaps. But being born a full grown woman? Now you’re messing with time and (gasp!)puberty…

        Well, we can hope.

“Should we thus conclude that there are no such people?”

You’re absolutely right. This has nothing to do with the moon.
        :p
