Shake it like a Polaroid picture…

  1. re-writting history to back their beliefs
I am actually astounded at the lenghts they are going to now to keep pushing the “global warming/climate change” money agenda.
The little ice age was real and was much more then England. And for years the climatologists ignored any correlation between Sol and climate. Now their twisting it, using words to sound like it was always given, that the sun, Sol, has an effect on a small part of the globe. WHAT CRAP. Get real here, the sun has always been responsible for a great deal of our weather and not localised to a single area. We haven’t yet reached the highs in temp experienced dueing 100AD to 1000AD yet. the only reason climate rose from the 1940’s till 1998 was it was in a warming cycle. Global means have not risen since 1998. In fact they are cooling. So clasp at any straw to convince the “SHEEPLES”.

Greenland was evacuted by the Vikings 1000 years ago because it started to get too cold and freeze over all year round.

There is not one thread of credible evidence to back the science behind this scare mungering climate bulls**t. But they do have a sh*t load of money behind it. Believe it suckers…..you will pay through the teeth.

    1. re-writting history to back their beliefs
Global warming is such a highly politicized topic that rational discussion is not possible. The “crisis” impetus was anti-Bush sentiment on the left (Al Gore is concrete evidence of that), and Bush’s links with and support of big oil were its underpinnings.

When I pointed out to someone whom I felt was crying wolf about climate change in print (who had no scientific background, by the way) that friends doing climate research at a major US university believe the Earth is still coming out of the “little ice age” and returning to its pre-ice age climate, he essentially called me a dupe and insisted my friends were research shills for the oil companies (without knowing any of the facts of their research or funding; they have no oil company money).

The hard facts about any possible effects of human activity on climate are so shrouded in and obfuscated by political rhetoric now that the only sensible approach for we plebes is to try to be “green” (just in case), but also understand that climate change is a financial bonanza for some climate researchers and firms marketing “green” products. We shouldn’t become crazed fanatics who believe the sky is falling just because those who profit from that notion tell us we should.

The jury is still out on human causation for global warming.

      1. Selling Apocalypse

but also understand that climate change is a financial bonanza for some climate researchers and firms marketing “green” products.

People that doubt the validity of the anthropocenic climate change scenario are often quick to point out the fact that, until a few decades ago, some scientists thought we were heading for a new Ice Age.

So, here’s a question: why wasn’t it more feasible for the multicorporations back then to launch marketing campaigns promoting ‘warm’ products? In other words, why did they wait and went out to change the public consensus with all the rhetoric arguing against the damage caused by fossil fuels et al, so that decades later we are finally ready to do what they always intended —consuming more?

If all they wanted was to keep selling, why didn’t they sell us the Ice-Age Apocalypse, instead of the Global Warming Apocalypse?

IMO there will always be people eager to make a buck out of people’s fear; ANY kind of fear. That does not necessarily mean those fears are completely unfounded.

The guys who rings to my door wanting to sell me a life insurance obviously doesn’t give a damn about my health; he’s only after his commission. That doesn’t mean it’s not wise to take precautions against the very probable scenario of having a coverage for medical expenses.

      2. going green
I’ve been a greeny since the 70’s. Not a tree hugging type just one who has always believed in sustainability. Recycling and not littering our nest. But there is very little money to be made in this line so big business has not pushed it. As RPJ pointed out about the little ice age back in the 70’s, but the world has changed since then, marketing has become very safisticated and information is readily available now. They did not have the tools to indocrinate the world back then, time delay in news, most people only were interested in their local inviroment.
It was a few years before the CO2 cause came into the picture, simply because first there was the slow brainwashing to a belief in global warming, then the name change to climate change so they wern’t telling out right lies.
Step one is to create the belief, then create the cause that can be fixed by money. Money that average Joe has to pay whilst the main polluters don’t loose a cent but stand to gain profit.
