Food for thought.

Thanks, Greg.

Quote of the Day:

Deception is a state of mind and the mind of the State.

James Jesus Angleton, Head of CIA Counter Intelligence, 1954-1974.

  1. Reading stuff
I wish I knew who came up with the statement about “…believing less that half (or whatever the amount) of what you read…”
Even the truth hunters seem to lie too much, and have their own agendas. Still, comedy fits in very well with all of the propaganda being spread by all in this weary ole world. I’d really like too laugh, but so much innocent blood is flowing that my tears keep getting in the way. At least praying changes ones brain – for the better I hope.
As for the assassins known as al queda something, the Muslims will eliminate them in due time. After all it is Islam that they are subverting to accomplish their thuggery. I’ll pick God’s side in all of this. He will win. Those who slaughter the innocents will pay, and pay big.

    1. I think us more sensible
I think us more sensible atheists and secularists (i.e those not wanting the end of religion) only really hope that religions can finally become those peaceful and noble versions their followers wish them to be. Sadly, in their multitude of ways, they appear quite far from this at the moment. Whether it be rewards for ‘defending’ God, lies and deceit to maintain those quarters that have been shown to be false, acceptance of inequalities or protecting the hierarchy over the victims these ‘human’ interpretations can have a very wide gap between action and metaphysics.

      1. G_d, free me from G_d
It’s the loud ones that get all the press :3

I’m keeping my eye on the USA, where the Great Human Experiment continues. There’s a robust and deep materialistic spirituality being formed there…

      2. sensible yes
But I am sure you do know that there are some atheists who are quite aggressive, in that they don’t tolerate any display of religion. And they hate, in a semi-religious way, those people who are religious.

This is not to disagree with your point of view.

But I have seen some very aggressive views of “tolerance”.

Tolerance means, by the definition of the word, that you let people do and believe what you yourself don’t want to do or believe. Those things you don’t approve of.

Tolerance does not mean you have to like what you don’t approve of. Yet some people insist that you have to like it.

That last crowd, those who insist that you like what you don’t approve of, exhibits intolerance, don’t you think?

It is not how fast you go
it is when you get there.

  2. 9/11 Thoughts
I’ve never really joined into the 9/11 discussion because I chose to just wait and watch a while. But after watching and learning, I really think that there was at least some level of complicity in how our government handled the situation. It may have been for reasons other than direct involvement in the actual destruction. For instance it may have been to protect foreign nationals after-the-fact, but it really seems to have happened.

Now that being said, I wouldn’t put it past our government to know of an imminent attack and not warn people or even to stage an attack. To stage the level of attack that happened, for me, is pretty difficult to believe. That being said, I do think that at a minimum, our government used the situation as a means to an end and lied to us many times about what they were trying to do versus what they were actually trying to accomplish.

For instance I don’t think they wanted to catch Osama Ben Laden because then there wouldn’t be a point in continuing their plans for war. I think it was most obvious that they wanted to go into Iraq regardless and he was a “poster child” that they could raise up and shake at us whenever we started to lose our resolve.

So in my opinion I think the government was dishonest in pretty much everything it did up to, but not including, the actual attack. I do think they knew an attack was probable, look at the attack that happened on the towers previously. I think they figured that they would wait and use it as a launching point.

    1. I agree
Your POV is pretty much in alignmnet with mine.

It’s not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me…
It’s all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

    2. More 9/11 thoughts
One of the best one-page summaries I’ve seen:

The Coincidence Theorist’s Guide to 9/11.

This brief page is also interesting:
      911 Conspiracy Nuts?

Part one of 9/11 Coincidences at YouTube. And here’s the elusive Segment Eleven, which someone really doesn’t want you to see, apparently.

      April 14, 2009 news article:
9/11 Commission Counsel: Government Agreed to Lie about 9/11.

The senior counsel to the 9/11 Commission – John Farmer – says that the government agreed not to tell the truth about 9/11, echoing the assertions of fellow 9/11 Commission members who concluded that the Pentagon were engaged in deliberate deception about their response to the attack.

Farmer served as Senior Counsel to the 9/11 Commission (officially known as the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States), and is also a former New Jersey Attorney General.

Farmer’s book about his experiences working for the Commission is entitled The Ground Truth: The Story Behind America’s Defense on 9/11, and is set to be released in September.

The book unveils how “the public had been seriously misled about what occurred during the morning of the attacks,” and Farmer himself states that “at some level of the government, at some point in time…there was an agreement not to tell the truth about what happened.”

      1. The Bush rabbit hole
I read those articles and it reminded me of another crazy situation in our history that did factually happen but nobody would ever believe it, much like a 9/11 conspiracy within our government. Again it involved a Bush, George Bush’s Grandfather, Prescott Bush.

It was called the Business Plot and was literally an attempt to take over the country, the USA.

        Business Plot

A quote from the Congressional Committee report:

“In the last few weeks of the committee’s official life it received evidence showing that certain persons had made an attempt to establish a fascist government in this country…There is no question that these attempts were discussed, were planned, and might have been placed in execution when and if the financial backers deemed it expedient.

This committee received evidence from Maj. Gen Smedley D. Butler (retired), twice decorated by the Congress of the United States. He testified before the committee as to conversations with one Gerald C. MacGuire in which the latter is alleged to have suggested the formation of a fascist army under the leadership of General Butler.”

So really, I don’t hold anything IMPOSSIBLE when I think about what involvement the government had in 9/11. It’s pretty amazing and sad, but true, that some of the big players in our government are not who we think they are and not necessarily working in our best interest.
