You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!

Thanks Kat and RPJ.

Quote of the Day:

People have the power
To dream, to rule,
To wrestle the world from fools.

Patti Smith, ‘People Have The Power’

Ok, it’s a U2 cover, not the original, and it’s a snippet at the end of the song.

  1. EVP recording – Laughed so hard it was Chilling!
    C’mon!

Are there people who really think this is anything other than nothing?

    Sorry… but really!

Don’t get me started with Orbs either… 🙂

    Cheers

    1. Who knows?
It is an interesting topic, I’ve tried to read a little about it, and I still don’t know what to make of it.

Maybe what some people think of as “ghosts” are other aspects of the Natural world we have yet to understand. Maybe some events “resonate” or leave a “footprint” on buildings that trascend the limits of space and time.

As for the recording, the “Get off me!” part got me a bit nervous. And there were some screams that might be the result of a creaky old door closing, I don’t know.

I would also like to know if they’ve been able to discern some of the “conversations”. It was really difficult for me to try to grasp something intelligible. Then again, I’m not really that good at listening english conversations 🙂

        1. Ye of little of faith!
I agree that if I uploaded a phone conversation between me and my mother, and I later told you that my mother had been dead for 10 years, it would be really impressive to some folks who would have a difficult time finding out if my mom is still alive or not. Others would remain skeptical even if I showed them the death certifcate.

But then again, these EVP are supposed to be fairly easy to make to anyone with realively cheap equipment. Maybe you should give it a try 🙂

          1. in olden times
Back in the 1970s I had a reel-to-reel tape recorder with some fun features. You could record over top of previous recordings. The way it worked was to feed back 1 or 2 tracks (it was a 4 track machine), and mix that together with a microphone or other new input.

But I never made anything that sounded as bad as this YouTube recording. I think that is on purpose – lot’s of noise mixed in to obfuscate the voices.

PS: listen to Mike Oldfield’s music, especially the first one (“Tubular Bells”). He played many different instruments, one at a time, and mixed the sounds together. The man had better equipment than I had, but he did it the same way. Well also he could play musical instruments, unlike me 🙂

It is not how fast you go
it is when you get there.

          2. How fitting!
How fitting for this conversation, that I just found out this Oldfield fellow is the man who composed the soundtrack for “The Exorcist” (one of my favorite flicks BTW… yes, I know!).

Also fitting, because in that movie (and in the novel) there’s an important part in the story dealing with an EVP, when Father Karras is looking for evidence on the exorcism claim of the girl Regan 😉

Aaaand, that this movie was made in 1973, the same year I was born…

With TDG, anything is just 6 degrees of separation away 😛

    2. Not so good
It sounded like people trying to make noise on an overly sensitive mic to make it sound scary, and then monolog incoherently about something. Not to mention the voices and sounds seemed to have the same echo that everything else did in the room, which is interesting considering a spirit sound shouldn’t have an echo or we’d be hearing it without the need for EVP.

I put my stamp of boo-sheet on this one. There have been, and will be, a lot more interesting EVP recordings than that.

  2. Planet of the Models
Let us take our fears and render them small and charming:

    1. Models scare ME
Sorry Groovista, but as I stated yesterday when I linked the story of glued cars, scaled models & I never got together well since my childhood. It was a real frustration to compare the beautiful render/photo of the finished model on the box cover, and the messy disaster I came up with.

And I ended up studying Industrial Design!! 🙁

      1. lol…that reminds me of
lol…that reminds me of when i used to play with legos. I’d always try to create the picture on the box, but not get it quite right. Then I smash it up and make something completely new, creative, and far more brilliant than anything the marketers at lego could come up with.
The irony is that now i’m a marketing consultant.

        1. Artists
I don’t remember which great artist once said that you discover your personal style when you realize you can’t draw/paint/sculpt in no other way! So what seems at first a limitation might end up to be a fountain of creativity, if used properly 😉
