News Briefs 13-03-2008

The news is so hot, my keyboard is melting.

Thanks to Ross, who thanks Red Pill Junkie, who thanks Greg, who thanks Kat. It’s Dr Seuss time.

Quote of the Day:

The ability to perceive or think differently is more important than the knowledge gained.

David Bohm

  1. Oh come on!
You can’t go and change a Tool/hyperdimensional joke to U2…it just doesn’t work! Maybe if the mathematician had found music relates to a square… ;P

And I think Brisbane is the only sane city in Australia at the moment. We’ve had like a month of 18-28 degrees, perfect weather (except I can’t figure out whether I’m supposed to have a beer or drink a coffee). I see tomorrow that Hobart has 34 (Hobart, 34!!! The Seventh Seal is broken and the four horsemen are saddling up…). Adelaide has had like 3 weeks of 40 degree temps. And Melbourne, that crazy old town, goes from 40 tomorrow to 21 for a maximum mid-next week.

No wonder all you southerners are moving up here, pushing my property valuation through the roof…
    😉

    Kind regards,
    Greg

    1. Dry heat
Heheh, sorry I changed your Tool joke to a U2 one for the hyper-dimensional music link… but The Edge sent me a message via mind-thought and I couldn’t resist.

No plans to move north of four-seasons-in-one-day Melbourne just yet, Greg. Ironically, I’m meeting a lot of Queenslanders who just moved here, what’s going on up there? I guess the Brisbane Lions are at the bottom of the AFL ladder these days. 😉

It’s sweltering outside right now, 40+ degrees celsius. It’ll drop to 30-something tomorrow when we get a “cool” change, but then it’s back to high-30s until Thursday next week. But this is nothing compared to Adelaide, who had eleven days of almost 40-degree weather! Imagine what it’s like for soldiers in full battle dress in the Middle Eastern desert.

I don’t mind the heat right now actually, it’s very dry. I can wear jeans and a shirt and not feel uncomfortable. It’s the humid weather I can’t deal with — if it’s only 28 degrees but very humid, I’m a wreck (and my hair goes curly and fuzzy).

Righto, time to build a house out of bamboo and coconuts…

  2. Wikileaks and Scientology
When I said in Tuesday’s news “Wikileaks website in the clear (for now).”, I didn’t realise how quick that “for now” might last. You can already hear the footsteps of Elron’s legal army moving towards Wikileaks, like the orc army marching on Minas Tirith.
    😉

    Kind regards,
    Greg

    1. Risky business
Wikileaks will be okay if Tom Cruise is in a Risky Business kind of mood, and not a Mission: Impossible one. He’ll throw a wild party and trash their house, but he won’t blow anything up.

Scientology lawyers, however, are out of Mission: Impossible…

  3. hot
Meanwhile, we have had the coldest winter in about 30 years here in Canada. And the most snow since about 1971. And the winter is not over, it is only mid-March, there is more to come.

    Yuck.

  4. well… I suppose that thing
well… I suppose that thing of haiti ufo was too obvious. I do not know what stroke me. Maybe a Pavlov reflex, maybe a inner force, maybe a small naughty devil… Speaking of stroke and to expiate myself I sent you this TED talk excelent lecture:

    best regards,

We all have the same goal. Some are aware of it, some are not!!!

  5. Argentinian gnome
Kat sent me an e-mail with the link to that video.

Really, really weird, although the last scream by the end of it sounds a little fake.

But the gnome itsel… eerie. And I admit it gave me the willies after I shut down my computer and turned the lights off… my imagination likes to play tricks on me, you know.

  6. Canada is a big place…spring is here, too
Ontario can keep it’s snow and cold, spring is here in Vancouver, British Columbia, and with it sprouting buds on the trees and warm, sunny days.

I can feel the winds of change and transmutation…
    .

    .
That Strategic Global Trends link is full of fascinating material…extremely well researched and presented predictions, in my opinion!!

I’d like to think that we will figure out how our Sun works, and eventually learn how to duplicate it’s fusion reaction on a micro scale; effectively allowing for the limitless global production of clean, renewable energy…

    1. in the past…
Some years ago, I lived in southern California. And I was proud of the comfortable weather there. As if I had anything to do with it 🙂 <------- ---- wherever you go, there you are

  7. F-117 on retirement
Sure, aside from the Raptors, the USAF may have a new secret spy plane currently doing some missions on Iran and elsewhere. But even if what flew over Dubya’s ranch was “Made in USA”, judging by the accounts of some witnesses, that thing wouldn’t be the replaceent of a bomber jet, for it was HUGE. Something that big doesn’t carry ordnance, it would carry troops, possibly even armored vehicles.

BTW, that photo that appear at the Inexplicata website it’s pretty interesting…

I want to write something about an article I recently read at Wired magazine, and how it may have implications in the UFO phenomenon. Stay tuned 🙂

    1. Airship
You’ve just sparked a memory, Red. I can’t remember how long ago, nor which newspaper I read it in, but certainly within the last five years I remember a report about USAF thinking about designing a huge airship that could carry up to 20 main battle tanks to an active theatre.
Never heard anything else. Could be?

      I’m fanatical about moderation

      1. Yep
I’ve read those stories too. But those designs are based on the concepts of blimps, and so the vessel would either be lighter-than-air, or at least it would be so light that it wouldn’t need that much energy to attain lift off.

So, these lighter-than-air aircraft would supposedly not be able to attain great velocities, so that could explain SOME UFO cases of people seeing slient slow-moving giant objects at night. But I don’t really know that could apply for the Stephenville case(s).

  8. dolphin rescued two beached whales (Good job, Rick)
Now seriously, what are the implications of this? Does it mean dolphins can effectively communicate with other species of cetaceans? I mean, biologically speaking is as if a human could communicate with an orangutan!
