News Briefs 17-11-2008

*cough!* I feel like somebody’s trying to pry my ribs apart with a crowbar. Sorry, but misery’s a great motivator of brevity.

Quote of the Day:

Soldiers! Forty centuries behold you!

Napoleon Bonaparte, to his army before the Battle of the Pyramids, July, 1798.

  1. King Richard’s grave/coffin
If this is a coffin, then I have an identical item on my farm! Also, this ‘coffin’ appears to be very narrow – even allowing for the small stature of the alleged occupant – and it does not seem fit for purpose. It also looks far too shallow.

That it was used as a water trough is clear from the small semi-circular cuts at each end, a common feature of stone troughs here in Somerset.

By the way, a stone trough this size is worth about £800 so a good find for someone.

    1. yes, but…
Maybe the king was impoverished and died of starvation. Then they could not afford an actual coffin, and they buried him skinny remains in this water trough 🙂

It is not how fast you go
it is when you get there.

  2. big brain
My first wife used to revel about my big brain. Until she realized, the bigger my brain grew, the more blood it took and the stupider I got. Go figure. Luckily, it was only a temporary condition… 🙂
