Pollution, all around, sometimes up, and sometimes down.

  • Here’s a video news story from China with footage of the mysterious boat-sized creatures seen swimming in Kanas Lake. It’s the Chinese women’s swimming team.
  • Beijing persuaded the World Bank to cut from a report findings that pollution has caused about 750’000 premature deaths each year, according to the Financial Times.
  • Excellent Sky News video story with further proof of rampant pollution in China causing death and illness. As long as it’s not causing Global Warming, who cares right?
  • This year could see the biggest dead zone form in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico since records began.
  • Thousands of coins from China’s Tang Dynasty era have been found in a central Vietnam province.
  • Archaeologists think naming Petra as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World will see more tourists damage the ancient ruins.
  • A group of Israeli archaeologists has condemned the Antiquities Authority for allowing Islamic trust officials to carry out a dig on the Temple Mount.
  • Roadworks in Greece have unearthed a rare Mycenaean grave thought to be over 3000 years old.
  • Blistering barnacles, Tintin in the Congo has been removed from the children’s section of Borders stores in the UK, US and Australia because some find it racist (Amazon US or UK).
  • A century after Ota Benga, a Congo pygmy, was displayed in a New York City zoo, a troupe of pygmy musicians visiting Brazzaville for a music festival were made to stay in the local zoo.
  • The president of the Pagan Awareness Network in Brisbane says the magic of Harry Potter rings true for Wiccans. Please don’t turn me into anything unnatural, Kat.
  • Pagans have pledged to perform rain magic to wash away a giant outline of Homer Simpson painted next to the Cernes Abbas giant. If it’s to promote the new film, surely they could just use CGI?
  • Can’t make it to New Mexico for the 60th anniversary of Roswell, then watch this video.
  • At last, footage of eleven UFOs chased and filmed by the Mexican Air Force three years ago. A plethora of pinyatas?
  • The anthropic principle is dividing physicists, exciting multiverse pundits, and confusing me. Which me is confused, I don’t know yet.
  • Out of sight and sound, Michael Prescott discusses NDEs and OBEs.
  • New treatments for sudden cardiac arrest are saving more patients, and providing more Near Death Experiences.

Thanks Kat and Eibon

  1. Old Mexican UFOs
The Mexican UFO story is more than 3 years old (not the actual link you posted, but the event). Most seem to lean toward flares from oil rigs as the explanation.

And is Homer about to put that doughnut where I think he is?

    Kind regards,
    Greg

      1. A plethora of pinyatas?
I take issue on that! Think that you might get readers that happen to NOT be anglos on your website. It’s like a comment made by a reader on the page linked, that thought WE mexicans couldn’t possibly have an Air Force because we are all seated under a cactus with a big sombrero under our heads.

Another thing: The pilots did not report to have CHASEN the UFOs at any time. Rather, they felt they were FOLLOWED by these lights.

Also, frankly the oil rig fires doesn’t explain it to me. These people routinely fly the same paths in search of trafficker’s airplanes. They know the landscape by heart, so don’t you think the fist thing they would have assumed was that they were seeing the ligthst of the oil rigs, which they happen to know exactly where they are located?

Regardless of what most people think, these military men are professionals.

And finally, this particular video has been posted on youtube for quite a while now. Hardly breaking-news stuff.

There has been every explanation under the sun, from swamp gas to flares to party balloons, so why not pinyatas? Just poking fun at the usual UFO explanations, nothing racist about that at all thanks. And it might be old news, but whilst everyone’s still droning on about nothing, I’ve made it my mission in recent weeks to highlight real UFO events, from Chicago O’Hare to the Channel Islands. And it sure beats the hell out of yet another Roswell 60th Anniversary story. 😉

          1. I apologize
I admit I overreacted and took it the wrong way. That’s the problem of blogging before getting your caffeine fix in the morning. 😉

Heheh, no worries mate. I know all about the caffeine fix. 😉

You made a good point though about the Mexican defense forces. Earlier this year, the Mexican Navy was in town and a few of the crew came into my work. It had just never struck me before that Mexico has a navy, but of course there would be with the Atlantic on one side and the Pacific on the other (and the USA above).

All the best. Vaya con dios (the only Spanish I know).

  2. “My other universe is a Porsche” Comment
What I understood from the article is that some cosmologists thought of an experiment to debate the anthropic principle, by tweaking the weak force in an hypothetical island of the multiverse and see if stars could form, and therefore also the possibility of sentient observers (like in our own universe).

But I think the experiment is flawed. Why? because although they removed a fundamental constant of our physical laws, they nonetheless kept assuming the rest of the physical laws were kept intact and used them to see if that major change still would permit the formation of stars. How do they know the rest of the natural forces were somehow unafected by their change? I find a little bit arbitrary.

The only thing of value is that we shouldn’t exclude other paths that life might follow apart from the one we observe in Earth. All the Nasa missions to find life in Mars are based on the premise that water is essential for life. Well, it is for carbon-based organisms, but what about other types of chemistries? What about lives that are based on ammonia or silicon for example?.
