Quote of the Day:

I have never been able to grasp the meaning of time. I don’t believe it exists. I’ve felt this again and again, when alone and out in nature. On such occasions, time does not exist. Nor does the future exist.

Thor Heyerdahl

  1. The Holographic What’s Its Name
… or How Michael Talbot Gets Everything Wrong.

This is what I wrote in response to the article from Brisbane:

Pribram neither thinks the brain is a hologram, nor “believes in the holographic nature of reality”. I spent two years with Pribram and studied his book on the subject of holonomic brain theory under him for the entire time. I also spent a summer as the only student participant with him, Bohm’s partner basil Hiley and Pribram’s two japanese co-authors Jibu and Yasue, in trying to extend book’s the apendix material using Shroedinger equations, tensor calculus and more. Pribram claims that the same mathematics Gabor developed to describe holography can be used to describe the brain’s electrical fields. This does not mean the brain is a hologram. Calculus can be used to describe increasing pressure on the hull of a submarine as it dives, and the acceleration of a free falling body. This does not mean a submarine is a free falling body. The claim regarding Pribram believing anything like holography and reality is pure invention. He never said that and doesn’t think that. He is agnostic with respect to Bohm’s actual theory regarding the underlying nature of physical reality (called “implicate order” and having nothing to do with holography). He is even less than agnostic when it comes to people making ridiculous assertions about parapsychological concepts based on their misrepresentation of his theory. Talbot does what many others have done with Pribram’s theory, and many other scientific theories they don’t understand, which is fill in their ignorance with misunderstanding and invention, and claiming it as supported by the theories. Their misrepresentations are a disservice to those who devote themselves to understanding and explaining.

No, I am not the brain specialist…..
YES. Yes I AM the brain specialist.
