Humm… Shouldn’t the CIA’s motto read ‘And the truth will keep you free’?

  • New evidence suggests human migration out of Africa may have been spurred by a prolonged continent-wide drought 70,000 years ago. Great satellite photo of Lake Bosumtwi.
  • Five untouched Roman sarcophagi have been found in a burial vault outside Rome. With photo.
  • Egyptologists believe Helwan necropolis could reveal much about the transformation of ancient societies from villages to kingdoms, but they’re worried that the necropolis may soon disappear.

  • Scientists figure out our place in the Milky Way.
  • Nobel Laureate admits string theory is in trouble.
  • Researchers find that lack of trust, anxiety in social situations, and depression are all related to low oxytocin levels in the brain (scroll down). Impaired production of the hormone has recently been linked to emotional deprivation in early childhood. An oxytocin pill may soon be developed, but in the mean time, meditation may also help.

Quote of the Day:

The majority of politicians, on the evidence available to us, are interested not in truth but in power and in the maintenance of that power. To maintain that power it is essential that people remain in ignorance, that they live in ignorance of the truth, even the truth of their own lives. What surrounds us therefore is a vast tapestry of lies, upon which we feed.

Harold Pinter, Nobel laureate

  1. About The Beatles
    SALVE KAT!

I want to suggest a fine book that I have since many years:
the original title is “The Beatles” the authors are Roy Carr and Tony Tyler.
It is a book with good news about their way to work on the music and fine photos, too.

    HUGSHUGS
    Katya

  2. Yo – What do you think about this???
I’d love to hear anyone’s opinions on the following:

Harold Pinter’s Nobel acceptance speech – or the excerpt
the David Graeber interview – and what happened to him at Yale
“Electric Humans” and their weird experiences
the article on our endangered privacy due to face recognition software

If you’ve seen it already – the movie Syriana

    Thanks for the feedback,
    Kat

  3. String Theory Attack by Nobel winner
Bout’ time somebody credible fired a shot at string theory. Many physicists do not believe STheory is fundamentaly correct at all.

As Physicist David Lindly said, ST is “nothing more than recreational mathematics, endlessly fascinating to those who’s math skills are good enough to play the game, but ultimately leading us nowhere”

I submit that we have already found the fundamental particles of matter, and most of the carrier (and other) particles. Our inability to understand all of their behaviour is due to not to faulty equations, but a faulty premise that there is such a thing as matter at all, outside of consciousness.

String theory has arisen because, failing to include equations of consciousness into the QM standard model, physicsts need to devise ever more complicated equations to describe behavior that is in fact best described in these terms: Intent, will, awareness, deductive reasoning, etc.

The equations that theoretically would work, would have to be as complicated as thought itself, i.e. infinately complicated. THAT is why no set of equations will EVER describe a unified field theory that will explain and predict everything as Einstein (and everybody else) hoped for. This is also why every new theory about matter is progressively more complicated, ad infinitum.

(The above is based on a Rosicrucian understanding and explanation of particle physics and matter, and in fact, there are a great many physicists who are members of the Rosicrucian Order. It also agrees pretty well with Yoga philosophy)

    1. String to nowhere
Nicely put, dashour. I have been working on a post for a couple of weeks and am still not quite there, but it ties in with this. It seems that the further you get away from directly verifiable results of any sort, the more mischief you can get away with. Mathematics should be a tool to help understand reality, not be the cart before the horse. Presumably, there are an infinite number of mathematically conceivable realities of which nearly none have anything to do with what we are swimming in.

      Cheers,

      X_O

  4. Rat brain flight computer
Hmmm… sounds like DeMarse has been reading the old Keith Laumer set of Bolo sci-fi novels.

“Nothing new under the sun” seems to become more and more accurate lol
