We’ve had Phatarhs as a candidate name for a moon discovered orbitting Uranus. Didn’t make it past go, though. I would certainly favour Phuket as the name of any new planet that gets discovered. Better than Sedna, and more in keeping with how astronomers really feel about having to name newly discovered bodies in this endless cosmos in which we live. Post your thoughts.

  1. New Planets?
I agree – Sedna seems a bit pedestrian. How about something like Upuurs? Or, we could use an acronym, like JACOF (Just Another Case of Orbital Flotsam). Wait a minute: here’s a 21st century solution; offer the naming rights for sale to corporations! Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Sedna, and Budweiser. Or Ford. Or AlGore (he seems to have lots of cash). 🙂

    Hi Jameske,

Excellent articles on our illusions, i really felt quiet at home. Thanks, now lets hope many more TDG readers take the time to read the articles.
The myth of the beginning of time piece was rather extensive, but that’s what you get when there’s not a conclusion in sight. I’m not in a position to criticize, but it looks to me that these scientists take more for granted then they’re willing to admit when they’re extrapolating their grant >>> freudian! schemes.

  3. New Moon Name
I couldn’t resist. If there is a newly discovered moon orbiting Uranus, it ABSOLUTELY has to be named Klingons. Imagine, Klingons around Uranus.

    1. Nice one
Hahah udanax, I’ll pay that one! Be a hell of a job pitching that one to the NASA chiefs though: “I propose a mission to perform a detailed study of Klingons near Uranus”.
      😉

      Peace and Respect
