    Just a couple of thoughts on morphic fields.

    If this is true and, as Sheldrake suggests (as with his bet with Wolpert)’Sheldrake maintained the position that the genome cannot determine how an organism will form. “It provides nothing more than the code for making proteins,” said Sheldrake’ then there are some implications to consider.

    Current hereditary theory holds that the genetic information provided by your parents determines your development. Environmental factors can still affect development of course, but they do it by affecting ‘your’ genes. Morphic fields create an interesting problem. If development is controlled by morphic fields, or even just affected by them, and morphic fields are controlled through some sort of feedback from the current state of biological matter (with some type of memory of unspecific ability) then how do we moralise current behavior and deal with issues such as increases in the prevalence of certain ‘genetic diseases’.

    Can increased alcoholism through a global recession affect the developmental pathways of embryonic liver development?

    To tackle heart disease should we just treat those whose stage of disease neccessitates it to try and affect the morphic field for the rest of us? Are older people who are unable to undergo general anesthetic or surgery for other reasons acting as ‘morphic sinks’ for disability? What about disability in general and morphic fields? If the existence of disability no longer just affects the individual, but changes the morphic field and adjusts the risk to everyone. How do we insure against morphic resonance? How do we evaluate an individuals risk?

    Can we use physics to manipulate morphic fields and circumvent the necessity to control the biology?

    Secondly, and in a somewhat different vein – and one i will be a little out of depth in as i don’t understand the subject… who does?

    The now (to what extent?) superseded Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics placed the observer in the vital position of collapsing the wave function and bringing reality to probability.

    Though this was always more of a metaphor as the role of observer was always to disrupt a system (which is done through natural interferences, or in our case specific equipment) this was jumped on as meaning consciousness was central to quantum mechanics. It was not, or at least not in the way the new age movement jumped on it. The observer is the interference, such as the beam of electrons used to ‘see’ quantum activity, with this interference collapsing the wave function. What was always more interesting was that how the experiment was set up seemed to determine the behavior of the quantum activity – even backwards in time. So rather than consciousness collapsing the wave function, it seemed to be able to determine the type of universe we lived in by determining the setup of the experiment.

    I.e we could try to affect the outcome of the experiment consciously as much as we want. Close our eyes and think as hard as we can, but it will not affect the outcome of the experiment. Mind does not overrule the matter. However, in the same way we can move our arms up and down or shake our legs about we can set up the experiment. I.e we affect the matter though more normal means. What is amazing is that through these more normal means we seemed to be able to affect the quantum activity – even in the past.

    The multiple universe model seems to have solved many of these oddities, while also giving a larger explanation for many of this universes physical properties.

    A fun realisation is that it is Hoyles steady state idea back again. Apparently one of the things Hoyle had to do in the later incarnation of the steady state model was change how matter was steadily created to involve superdense quantum fluctuations. The addition of inflation with Hoyles model creates an infinite steady state metaverse birthing ‘universes’ from quantum fluctuations in apparently just the way Hoyles steady state theory predicted. He seems to have hit the nail on the head, through his philosophy he just got the wrong universe.

    Anyway, back to my point. The nature of the multiple universe idea seems to give the appearance of evolution since the features of the multiple universes must match our existence (since we are here) so the correct sequence of events must have happened. This is where i get out of my depth. The stacked superposition of events seems at first glance to have some of the principles of morphic fields. Could morphic fields be the affect of quantum superposition of universes? I suspect no :), but there are some similarities so i though i would raise the idea. Especially as i am liking the idea of superposition as an explanation of some paranormal phenomena at the moment. If consciousness is quantum then why not suggest that we can in some sense ‘feel’ superposition occurring.

      morphic fields could be the collective species consciousness and group consciousness. I commented earlier on another post about starlings and pigeons and 100th monkey.
      Awareness seems to be the trigger for the collective gain. Meaning the critical mass theory.
      As far as superposition is concerned, feeling it happen would not be possible. As layers are developed there could possibly be only a thin reconition of the older layer but this enhances the new. Multi layers of consciousness with the older becomming redundant.
      In regards to genetic diseases I believe they do not exist. A certain trait or cellular malfunction can be passed through to the next generation but these are not part of the morphic field or genetic consciousness of cellular generation. This is purely inviromental that spans generations and is repairable.
      We are here not necessarily because of a correct sequence but simply a sequence that may have had many turns and side steps before the correct ingredients were mixed.
      Back to morphic fields, this is getting awfully close to intelligent design principals I think. But it can also incorporate string theory as recently discovered patterns may suggest.
      I for one believe in a multi layered cosciousness from the higher mass level down to the DNA level. When the infinite frequencies of magnetism is understood, then the communication between the smallest possible to the multiuniverse will be understood. Hense the old saying “we are all one”.
      Discussing these possibility’s are the tip of the iceberg in understanding all paranormal activities.
      Still a very interesting subject that needs much more scrutiny.
