Singularity Summit at Stanford

For those interested in the possibility of Vernor Vinge’s ‘Singularity’ occurring in the near future, check out this upcoming conference: the Singularity Summit at Stanford brings together futurists such as Ray Kurzweil, Eric Drexler, Cory Doctorow (of Boing Boing fame) and Douglas Hofstader to discuss ‘the Singularity’:

In futures studies, the singularity represents an “event horizon” in the predictability of human technological development past which present models of the future cease to give reliable or accurate answers, following the creation of strong AI or the enhancement of human intelligence.

The website has plenty of content, including interviews with the speakers. The conference is scheduled for May 16th, 2006.
