Bogus Bigfoot Update

Interesting little aside in this ABC News story about the Biscardi Bigfoot:

Biscardi said he plans to keep the body at an undisclosed location while scientists, including two Russian hominid specialists, study the creature. Biscardi said the entire process will be filmed and then released as a documentary.

That exploding sound you can hear is my bullsh*t detector, unable to cope with it all any longer. Nothing to see here, move along...

It began to stink the moment Whitton and Dyer admitted the video they released is a hoax. Dr Paul Van Buren is fake, and is played by Whitton's brother Martin. I smelled a decaying hoax before that, but the fake video clinched it.

I'll leave the last word to respectable Bigfoot researcher Jeffrey Meldrum, with special emphasis on his last point. I really feel for Meldrum and researchers like him, they have the most to lose from this moronic charade:

Jeffrey Meldrum, a prominent Bigfoot researcher, told science journal Scientific American: "I'm extremely skeptical about this Bigfoot claim.

"I've had interactions with Tom Biscardi in the past, and based on that history, I would say that anything he is involved in is suspect.

"What I've seen so far is not compelling in the least, and I think the pictures cast grave doubts on their claim. It just looks like a costume with some fake guts thrown on top for effect.

"You hold out hope that Bigfoot will be found one day ... hopefully it wouldn't unfold in such a carnival atmosphere and the proper authorities and scientists would be involved." (Source)

My brother called me late at night to tell me about this and woke me up. I said it had better be true or else. I hate stuff like this. I think I know who big foot really is...he plays basketball. Shac or something like that.

a death-bed confession by one of the original

Mumbley, for an excellent article dealing with the so-called "bed confession" of the Bigfoot hoaxter, you should definitely read what Loren Coleman wrote for Darklore vol. 1 (Amazon US & UK).

Watched the news conference, and I'm waiting to see the body actually displayed before making up my mind about this one--but I have to wonder, could the characters involved in this be any more unlikeable than these--especially the brazenly self-promoting Biscardi???

Did you attend the news conference, jupiter? Or do you have an Internet link where one can watch it?

I watched most of it broadcast live, on CNN--but I believe this link shows the conference:

It looks like a couple of guys talking, in front of a grey background, and sounds like some other people in the foreground asking questions.

very conclusive indeed :)

The guys talking do seem to be bipedal, even thought we cannot see their legs.

However it is true, they do claim to have found Bigfoot or something like it. Can't argue with that part.

I've just read this wonderful quote in this CNN article regarding the News conference:

Quote:

"We were not looking for Bigfoot. ... We wouldn't know what we were doing if we did," said Whitton, a police officer on leave after being shot in the hand while making an arrest.

Ain't that peachy? These guys LOVE to repeat on their videos ad nauseam that they're the "best Bigfoot trackers in the World". They offer $500 trips to go and search for the elusive primate. They're always reminding us that they know where a family of these creatures inhabit and are planning to capture a live one. They show their Akita dog and claim this will suffice to subdue a wild 8-ft-high beast of unknown physical strength...

But God forbids if they REALLY found one.

Quote from this article:

Quote:

Of three samples in a preliminary DNA test, one came back inconclusive, one contained traces of human DNA and one had traces of opossum DNA — probably from something the creature ate, they said.

I think that in truth they didn't discover Sasquatch.

They discovered "Manbearpig"... or is that "Manbearopossum"?? ;-)

Ah.......it's an obvious hoax - doesn't even bear cursory scrutiny.

Two guys find a bigfoot, dead, in the north Georgia woods so they put the body "on ice," get on a plane and fly 2,000 miles to Palo Alto, California without the body for a news conference, and all they show is two blurry pictures and a DNA test that says bigfoot is a possum? Yeah....that makes perfect sense. I mean, that's exactly what I would do if I found bigfoot....

And then there's the video....

Is public flogging an available remedy for this criminal waste of our time?

I followed all this pile of steaming...uh..you know.. over at Cryptomundo. I think those guys, all three of them, are dirtballs. Of course, that's just my opinion. But they haven't done or said anything even remotely reassuring. And i think the cop jerk is in some trouble with his boss because of it too.

BTW- the other guy, besides Biscrapi and Whittless, is an *ex* prison guard. Now, what kind of guy takes a job as a prison guard then can't hold onto it?

Oh yeah: they're THE BEST bigfoot trackers in the WORLD!

According to them, anyway.

A point I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere:

How lucky are these two, finding a freshly deceased Bigfoot? Most dead animals I find in the woods are usually several days dead, and eaten, just bone and fur left. So they find this freshly dead Bigfoot, that had only keeled over and met its maker just hours before discovery, the body still flexible and warm, and carry it back to civilisation, a day and a half hike. Two days later, rigamortis still hasn't set in, a biological miracle in itself, allowing them to shove the flexible carcass into an icebox, contorting the head at an unnatural right angle.

The worst thing about this hoax is the amount of media attention it received.

I didn't watch most of the conference, but I did watch the first part with Biscardi, and what struck me the most is the fact that Biscardi, on the first visit to the Georgia boys, received the vials with "DNA sample" directly from them; they put them on his hand. This helped to cement his trust on the boys, but it's in fact a major blunder, since he can't really prove the samples wee taken from the body itself.

Of course, that could also be later used by him to deny being an active pat of the fraud: "I was fooled by them!" And it could also be used to win some time, since these guys could claim they didn't know how to take samples without contaminating them.

Another thing that I did manage to see befoe losing my patience was Matt's account of how, after discovering this body, he stayed with it while "Rick went to get some help", which he did and also a truck to tow this carcass away.

So, does that mean Rick asked some other people to help them lift the body and place it on the truck? Why haven't these people come forward?

PS: Has anyone seen that second picture of the mouth's close-up?

[UPDATE] Oh, never mind! Blogsquatcher has the photo of the mouth in all its gory... I mean glory.

My my, what pearly teeth does Bigfoot have! Must be that opossum diet he's on ;-)

Wow it almost makes me want to become a woo-fighter mah self...almost....nah....

Seriously, the woo-fighters are going to have a field day with this one. "See this is just what I've been talking about all along. We must prevent woo artists like this from mucking up science. I propose all UFO, paranormal, crypto, and anything un-scientific (i.e. anything I deem unworthy) be stricken from our minds!"

I'm just glad they made it obvious it was fake quickly so that it can fade into the background quickly.

twodogknight --

BTW- the other guy, besides Biscrapi and Whittless, is an *ex* prison guard. Now, what kind of guy takes a job as a prison guard then can't hold onto it?

I know a couple of detention officers, and this is not a job to take lightly by any means. In fact, I'm no zoologist or hunter, but one thing these officers have told me is that they are trained to trust their instincts, which might actually be an advantage in hunting or tracking anything.

So, if the guy couldn't hold on to the prison guard position (though obviously I don't know WHY he isn't still doing the job) this could still imply a lack of competence.

I think the real bottom line here is that this is so patently fraudulent that I am disappointed that these jackasses weren't laughed out of this country.

I am deeply disappointed in the American media for being so mindless as to actually give these phonies the time of day. The REAL blame is the American public, whom the American media serves, whose gullibility continues to astonish me.

Can't even use the excuse "slow news day." Something about Russia and Georgia, if I remember correctly ... and there's this thing called "The Olympics" ...

In the 90s, Mexican Media gave an unusual attention to the Chupacabras frenzy.

What many people later came to suspect, is that this was some sort of somekscreen, to deviate the public's attention from far more important and pressing matters (in the case of Mexico, it was the guerilla).

So ask yourself this, my gringo friends: What news is being skipped from the TV channels in favor of showing two jackasses (or three) making a circus with a couple of lousy photographs?

I don't think this is a conspiracy. I think it is just idiocy.

People are clearly interested in these types of stories (the existence of TDG is witness to that...as is the extreme web traffic devoted to this bogus bigfoot story).

I don't blame the media for reporting on what interests people. And, after all, when somebody says they have a bigfoot body, that's pretty binary...they either have it or they don't - they can either show it or they can't. These stooges flew 2,000 miles AWAY from the supposed body to have a news conference, obviously to take off the table any possibility of showing the "body" to reporters.

The main issue I have is that the U.S. media doesn't seem to be more pissed off over what these idiots have done. I have a feeling that if the British media were involved, and they had their time wasted like this, these fools would be hounded to the end of their days and they would rue the day they decided to roll out this tripe.

If i had been one of the journalists that actually flown in to attend this fiasco, I would have been utterly merciless with them; specially with Biscardi. The tolerance people have with this man is incredible, like Loren Colerman says "He has 9 lives".

Maybe that's because deep down people appreciate a Barnum-like conman who, for the shortest of times, distracts you from the ever-depressing situation of the world —oil prices, real estate foreclosures, Iran, Georgia (the other one) and really big etc.

That's the only explanation I have for all the media attention the Montauk Monster received. I mean, it's a good damned dog or raccoon carcass fros Christ's sake!! It was interesting to see the pics for a minute or two, but let's move on.

While there is, of course, nothing wrong with being a prison guard (necessarily, I have my own opinion on those willing to warehouse others) it isn't the kind of job that brings credibility and prestige for having *previously* been one. If you ARE one, great; you're a tougher guy than i. BUT- if you *were* one, and that's your claim to believabilty, it doesn't say much.

So, it turns out it was a "rubber suit" - according to the news reports.

The only innocent one in this was the possum.

I guess that's it. the only thing remaining would be to sort out the kind of legal action that should be pursued against Tom Biscardi and the Georgia boys.
