The Real Dharma Initiative...

Planes falling out of the sky near Australia due to secret technologies. I know, it sounds like something out of Lost, but the real story might be almost as interesting. Last night I was watching the news, when they mentioned that two separate aeroplanes have gone into steep dives due to technical malfunctions, both near the same location in Western Australia. Then they didn't say any more about it. I thought to myself, "that seems rather odd, why didn't they say more about this apparent coincidence?" Then this morning Rick sent this article to me, which suggests that a U.S. military base may hold the key to the mystery:

Powerful signals from a secretive naval base are being probed as a possible cause of a Qantas jet plunge last week... The Australian Transport Safety Bureau today said it would examine whether powerful electromagnetic signals from the communications base could have sparked the emergency.

The base uses powerful low frequency radio transmissions to US Navy and Australian Navy ships and submarines. It is understood to be the most powerful transmission station this side of the globe and includes 13 radio towers, the tallest of which is 387m tall.

...ATSB spokesman David Hope confirmed the new line of inquiry today, after "several" groups had raised it as a possibility. "We're looking at everything as part of a very thorough investigation," Mr Hope said. "That's been raised by a number of people to say that somehow or another this US military base has got a very high frequency signal tower there and that could somehow interfere with electrical devices - so we'll look at it."

Now for your daily dose of strange: I commented to Rick that the story sounds like something the Dharma Initiative would be behind. Then I saw the satellite image of the base. As Scooby Doo might say, ruh-roh...

Okay, so it's an octagon versus a hexagon. Don't spoil my fun dammit! I want to believe!

Greg, thanks for this post. I, too, heard that initial item mentioned (and just as quickly UNmentioned) although it didn't say precisely where the incident occurred. At the time I thought it more than a co-incidence that two such strange events had happened by 'chance' at the same place and that there had to be a more logical explanation.

Sometimes it's surprising what is briefly mentioned (and then UNmentioned), as just before the Sydney Olympics I heard on a news broadcast that the PTB were concerned about a possible attack launced against ONE of Australia's nuclear reactors. Well - there's the one we know of at Lucas Heights, but if that is 'one' of them, where are the others? And why don't we know about them? Or is that a stupid question?!

Thanks again - certainly food for thought.

Regards, Kathrinn (now putting on tinfoil hat!)

There have been some attacks on gas pipelines, with explosives in Canada. Not much press about those things.

Sure this is relatively small time stuff, and it could well be some locals upset about a land deal with the gas companies. That's not my point.

It is just that much of our infrastructure is quite vulnerable to low-tech sabotage.

Didn't know there was one, but it doesn't surprise me - probably one at Exmouth as well, and maybe others. Let's face it - there's hundreds of square miles of bloody nothing out in the desert and there could be any number of things sitting in plain sight of no-one that we don't know about.

Pine Gap is the Top Secret US underground base. The Area 51 of Australia. Hypothetically, of course, as there are no power plants or distribution lines anywhere near for hundreds of kilometers, and no smoke stacks for generator exhausts, which make people believe there's a nuclear reactor underground, similar to US aircraft carriers or submarines reactors. There could also be a few more for Universities, like they do in the US. Who knows :)

Forgive me if I am a bit hazy on dates, this was a long time ago! I think it was winter, January or February, and I know it was in the mid-nineties, because I was living in Boston Massachusetts.
At the time, I was working as a "chaperone" for a woman who was a courier for various marijuana distributors [large scale, not street level.]. A lot of her clients were students from the colleges in the area; Harvard, B.U, B.C, Northeastern, M.I.T... The list could go on.

Anyhow, during one delivery to M.I.T. we heard this crazy story about how, the night before, some students had been messing around with trying to create an "EMP generator" that could be aimed at specific targets, like individual automobiles for instance, and it would fry the electric components of the targeted device, rendering it inoperable.

They went outside to use it, but unfortunately, the first target these "geniuses" see, is a State Police helicopter flying low near the Charles river. They targeted THAT, and sure enough, to their shock and dismay, the device worked, and the helicopter crashed into a boathouse on the Cambridge side of the river, killing everybody on board.

They were understandably guilt-stricken, and I would wager that even though they were never found out, they are probably STILL haunted by that night. I never personally KNEW the actual guys that did it, just their buddies from the dorm, so that is just pure speculation and projection on my part.

But I digress!

This may not have much to do with the "Dharma Initiative," [I have never seen "Lost."] I DO believe the technology has been around to "bring down a plane" with an EMP device since 1995 [at least in theory]!
