Fifty Shades of Greys from 1895

Over at the Public Domain Review, there’s a few scans from The physiotherapy in gynecology and the mechanical treatment of diseases of the uterus and its appendages by Thure Brandt. These images are eerily familiar for those steeped in forteana, featuring figures with gracile bodies, large heads, largely featureless faces, and big, dark eyes.

Thankfully these are a far cry from the hairy, hippy-sex sketches from The Joy of Sex, it does make one wonder if a copy was on the shelf of Betty Hill’s alien gynecologist. Check out the rest for yourself! h/t to Undine on Twitter for sharing this gem.
